As i got it it they were a part of that universe or whatever. Toomey just gave them name after his childhood fearsDo y'all think the langoliers were created from Toomey's mind? or were they a natural part of the spent-time cleanup?

I think his perception of them is coloured by his perception of what he believed in. And he was crazed in the end. That's a VERY interesting question - they were so close to what Toomey always believed in, that there has to be some connection, right?!
But don't you think they were all seeing the same thing?I think his perception of them is coloured by his perception of what he believed in. And he was crazed in the end.
I think the describtion is a bit vague. There is room for your mind to get into play. But i don't think Toomeys mind created them. But don't you think they were all seeing the same thing?

I wondered the same thing - how in the world would they explain the plane, the lack of passengers, and Dinah's death?...Brian probably would've lost his job for sure!I still wonder what happened when they got back. Would anyone believe them? Would they be looked upon as lunatics?
I totally forgot about that!!SK's note on The Langoliers made me smile. It was like he knew, that at sometime in the future, he would write aboutGlocks with safety's and big Mercedes with little Mercedes model numbers

Exactly. They are talking ,a bit casually i think, about going on to different locations but they would have to stay put for awhile with interrogations. "OK, tell me again what happened to the passengers?"I wondered the same thing - how in the world would they explain the plane, the lack of passengers, and Dinah's death?...Brian probably would've lost his job for sure!
I love when SK references other works in his stories! He mentions The Shop (Firestarter) in the first part of the story. He might've had the first thought of 11/22/63 (he references time travel and JFK). He also writes something about a dome shape over the land as the crew is traveling back (Under the Dome?).SK's note on The Langoliers made me smile. I read somewhere that he Under the dome quite early but that King didn't quite get to the end of. So he had probably started or at least had the idea when he wrote langolliers.I love when SK references other works in his stories! He mentions The Shop (Firestarter) in the first part of the story. With Nick and Dinah dead i guess it is a Kingish happy ending. This is about as close as SK gets to a "happy ending!"
