Still in the process. It takes a long time because you have to gather death certificates, marriage license -- you have to prove this lineage. Then all that gets sent back to DAR headquarters in Washington, D.C. (I think that's where it is) and they have genealogists prove the line.

I know, that's why I asked. I've heard of people taking years to find just the right ancestral evidence in order for DAR to approve. Don't know if this is true.

We (my sister and I) are working with a DAR chapter president who knows what she's doing. We have 11 ancestors hooked to this war, fathers, sons -- so she picked out the line that she felt was the easiest for us to prove. And she started with this ancestor and is working towards present, and we started with newer ancestors and working towards her work. She said it can take 2 years to prove.
