I never could understand why people crash weddings. Being at a reception where you don't know the bride or groom is kinda pointless. It's really boring to listen to speeches about people you're not related to or friends with in any way. Unless you're a supermodel or a local celebrity, no will talk to you except for your date if you brought one (though it's probably harder to crash a wedding as a couple). And because of the Me Too movement, a lot of men are too scared to approach women they don't know, even if it's just for a dance. No one will introduce you to other people because nobody knows who you are or why you're even there.

Now these two are married. I didn't even know they were dating.. for 4 years. I thought Neil was already married.

There have always been lots of people I didn't know at every wedding I ever attended (except my own!). Usually most of the 'unknowns' are from the 'other' side, friends and family of the person to which your person is getting married. People crash weddings for the free food and free drinks (if open bar). I think a well dressed couple probably has a much better chance of going unnoticed. Although it is not uncommon for people to meet their future spouse while attending a wedding, I don't think the odds are all that great for a single guy crashing a wedding!

On a side note, I've loved seeing stories an occasional celebrity wedding crasher like Tom Hanks, who just so happen to staying or working at the venue, and have some fun for a few minutes before moving on.
