1. Did you have a lunch box as a kid? What kind?
Nope... brown paper bag.

2. Do you tell friends you love them or only close relatives?
I dislike everyone. ;)

3. What was the last reason you went to the ER?
Last time in the ER was for my daughter after she passed out. She developed heart problems from Lyme Disease. Had to also go in an ambulance when they transferred her form one hospital to another specializing in heart problems. The top of her heart was not communicating properly with the bottom of the heart. Last time I was in the ER for myself was when a car that ran a red light hit me and they had to reconstruct my spine at the neck.

4. Have you ever been in a physical fight?
Over the course of about 8 years... on a daily basis, growing up. I lived across the street from the town psycho and bully who had dozens of broken bones he caused on others to his credit. He was about 50 pounds heavier than me and usually won. But I learned that dirty fighting sometimes wins the battle. And several as an adult... usually for defending the honor of women. When I starting to date my wife we went to a function at a club where her grandmother was a board member. It was the first time I was going to meet her grandmother. During the evening my future wife told a guy off because of his language and innuendoes. He tossed a glass of beer on her and threw a shot glass at her. I jumped out of my seat and we went at it. When I was getting the upper hand in the fight his two friends then jumped me. When it was three against one, others pulled us apart and put a stop to it. I ended up with a black eye, a split lip and bloody knuckles. I thought I had made a bad impression on her grandmother and apologized for my actions, but she loved what had happened. She said I did exactly what her dear departed husband would have done.

5. Do you have any interest in the upcoming solar eclipse?
Yes, but with my luck it will be too cloudy.

6. Does this thread need more cowbell?
Nah, don’t got a fever, although I do have a cowbell.

7. Have you seen any snakes this year?
Lots. Saturday I was trimming around the garden and had to move a two-foot garter snake out of the way for its protection. I picked it up with my hands to move it to a safe spot and as I walked past the family on the deck enjoying the pool they all declared me to be crazy.

8. How often do you change your sheets?
Don’t know, that’s the wife’s job.

9. What is your most valuable possession or collectible?
Collectible: A Continental Dollar issued August 13, 1776. I use it as my bookmark.

10. What is a subject you want to learn more about?

Love Jack Skellington! My son lent me his old Nightmare Before Christmas lunchbox when I first started to sub. It was stolen and I felt soooo bad.
I've loved TNBC forever!! Haven't been able to watch it in the last few years because Zero looks too much like my Sadie. :big_tears:

Tery What a fantastic anniversary gift!! He's a keeper. :love_heart:

Sigmund Sorry about your son's lunchbox. If I ever run into one anywhere, I'll buy it and send it to you. :smile2:

Scott, I'm learning Spanish from a phone app that Mr. Nobody (I think) told me about. It's called Memrise, and I've used it for about a year and a half--really started learning a lot in the last six months. I can carry on a conversation with some of the guys I date, and they don't know any English, but a few words. If I can read it (like in a text), I do even better. Oh, and it's free. You can buy a more detailed version, but no need. Spend just about 10-15 minutes a day with it; you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll pick it up.

We learned the alphabet in English and Spanish and the sounds each letter makes. No one taught us to read Spanish but knowing how to read English you can read Spanish (that was really enlightening, huh) . And Spanish is way easier to learn, in my opinion.
What can mess with you is when your thinking in English and read a billboard that's in Spanish. For a second or two your brain freezes and then it knows -en Espanol, por favor. :smile2:

What I love about Spanish, is that the letters always make the same sounds, unlike English. Much easier, like you said. As I was learning, I also figured out that the verbs which mean "to...do something" like "to drive" or "to listen" all end in -er, -ar, -ir.
conducir - to drive
sangrar - to bleed
ver - to see
mirar - to look
ETC.
What I didn't know, and what made it harder at first, was that one word in English does not equal one word in Spanish. I thought I would just have to memorize Spanish replacements for each English word, but often one Spanish word takes the place of two to three English words; like conmigo means "with me," and estoy which means "I am."
Sigs, envía a todos tus hispano hombres a mi manera, por favor!

There are some things in Spanish, sayings/phrases/turn of phrase, that are difficult if not impossible to translate. And depending which Spanish you are talking about. A word or phrase to a Mexicano may mean one thing that to a Cubano is a fight waiting to happen. Same with a Puerto Ricano.
Lo siento, todos los hombres que conozco están casados o tomados.
