There are some things in Spanish, sayings/phrases/turn of phrase, that are difficult if not impossible to translate. And depending which Spanish you are talking about. A word or phrase to a Mexicano may mean one thing that to a Cubano is a fight waiting to happen. Same with a Puerto Ricano.
Lo siento, todos los hombres que conozco están casados o tomados.
See, I could actually read that whole sentence! (I'm so proud of myself. ;-D )
Gracias, Sigs.

1. Did you have a lunch box as a kid? What kind?
I had a lunch box with a thermos all through elementary school, then mostly bought lunch at school after that. All these years later, I bring a lunch box to work each day. No thermos though.

2. Do you tell friends you love them or only close relatives?
I tell everyone that I love, I love them.

3. What was the last reason you went to the ER?
Last time, about 2 years ago, was when hubby helped a neighbor clean up his very overgrown back yard and stepped on a nail. Last time for me, was in college. I got a job at the local grocery store deli. My third day, went to slice some ham for a customer and didn't notice that the last person had moved the slicer at an angle. Luckily it only sliced a part of my finger before it hit the nail, and I was able to turn it off. My dad thought it was really funny in the weeks that followed to stop by and ask if we had any fresh finger for sale.;-D

4. Have you ever been in a physical fight? Why?
Once when I was just out of high school. Why, you ask? The girl was crazy and her ex-boyfriend liked me. She came at me flailing like a windmill and I grabbed her hands and held them until her friends could drag her away.

5. Do you have any interest in the upcoming solar eclipse?
Yes, I hope I will be able to see it, although it will only be partial for me.

6. Does this thread need more cowbell? ;)
Always!

7. Have you seen any snakes this year?
I don't think so. We had a big copperhead under our deck last year, but the deck is gone. Less hiding spots!

8. How often do you change your sheets?
As needed. Sometimes frequently, when it's hot like it is now.

9. What is your most valuable possession or collectible?
I have a big collection of Slyvan Parrot depression glass. My first piece was given to me by my grandmother, when she was cleaning out her mother's house. She wasn't big on antiques and thought I would like it. Found out later that it was a pretty rare item, especially in as good condition as it is. My collection has grown from there and I have a big cabinet full of stuff now.

10. What is a subject you want to learn more about?
Gardening. I'm just getting my feet wet this year with some tomatoes and peppers.

Doc, you have been posting good questions. Don't forget to give us your answers!!

Scott, I'm learning Spanish from a phone app that Mr. Nobody (I think) told me about. It's called Memrise, and I've used it for about a year and a half--really started learning a lot in the last six months. I can carry on a conversation with some of the guys I date, and they don't know any English, but a few words. If I can read it (like in a text), I do even better. Oh, and it's free. You can buy a more detailed version, but no need. Spend just about 10-15 minutes a day with it; you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll pick it up.
...excellent!....thank you so much.....

I don't collect them but I have always liked depression glass and what's called milk glass. Both of your pieces are attractive. Green is my favorite color.

1. Did you have a lunch box as a kid? What kind? Yes, the metal kind with the raised artwork. Mine was Dukes of Hazzard.

2. Do you tell friends you love them or only close relatives? Yes, but not very often. I think people need to hear it but mostly they should know by your actions.

3. What was the last reason you went to the ER? Migraine.

4. Have you ever been in a physical fight? Why? Yes, a few times. The kind where you scrap and wrestle and someone ends up in a headlock. I've never been punched nor have I thrown a punch. Doesn't that only happen on TV? Every fight I have ever seen was a free-for-all and sloppy.

5. Do you have any interest in the upcoming solar eclipse? Yes, but I doubt I will drive to Nashville to see it.

6. Does this thread need more cowbell? ;) Yep.

7. Have you seen any snakes this year? Not this year. Last year a big rat snake would hang out with me on the deck and warm itself. It would hang off the aluminum ladder like a blowout strip of tire, bleeding down like black oil and without a sound draining into the gap of the deck. He wasn't afraid of me and I wasn't afraid of him.

8. How often do you change your sheets? I probably change them every 6 weeks. If needed, sooner.

9. What is your most valuable possession or collectible? I have some expensive clothes (jackets, shoes) but nothing of great value. I have some first edition books that I treasure. A rare-ish book called A Cry of Angels by Jeff Fields.

10. What is a subject you want to learn more about? Homesteading, living on a working farm. I also want to know more about my ancestry.

Kurben, the phrase "need more cowbell" is a much-repeated part of pop culture. It comes from an SNL sketch with Christopher Walken. I'll try to find clip on YouTube. Lol
Of the books you have mentioned on this site, I need to read Wind In The Willows and Watership Down.
