I got busy, but I had started to watch the first four or five episodes of a sadly-cancelled-after-only-thirteen show called Freakylinks done by Haxan Films, the guys behind the Blair Witch Project. It's both dark and hilarious, and yes, even scary in a creepy, non-cheap-jumps way, (like the Blair Witch Project before it, though the movie was lacking in the sense of humor the show has) and precedes Cloverfield by eight years in hand-held, found footage with a high budget, clearly the spoils of tBWP. It takes things one further by jumping back and forth to the 'God's eye' point of view whenever they turn the hand-helds off. Maybe it took too much of a turn toward the comedic, I haven't finished watching yet, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, as the last episode I've seen so far, about the desert squid, was screamingly hilarious where it needed to be, and suspenseful where it was called for. And there have been relatively big name guest actors in every episode so far.
