Nothing really happened, but February 15 is apparently National Gummy Bear Day, and I do love gummy bears! (only Haribo, though. Impersonators shall be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law.)

Hmmm, I need to research this. I was born January 18th, 1977 in Alabama during one of the worst blizzards ever recorded in our area. My mother went into labor after sledding down a hill. She called for help but no ambulances could traverse the ice so she had to be transported in a cop car up the mountain to the hospital. It's interesting to note that The Shining was published exactly ten days later.

The only semi-interesting thing I could find online was that the day I was born, the Beatles were officially disbanded.

The most interesting thing that happened that is not online is that my childhood best friend was also born that day and we grew up on the same block and are still friends. One of her children and one of mine also share the same birthday (as each other, not as us...but different years).

I couldn't find anything interesting, I copied this from a website;

Wednesday 14 November 1984

It was Wednesday, under the sign of Scorpio. The US president was Ronald Reagan (Republican). Famous people born on this day include Marija Serifovic and Vincenzo Nibali. In that special week of November people in US were listening to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!. In UK I Feel For You by Chaka Khan was in the top 5 hits. Supergirl, directed by Jeannot Szwarc, was one of the most viewed movies released in 1984 while The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub was one of the best selling books. On TV people were watching The Box of Delights. If you liked videogames you were probably playing Bird Mother or Daley Thompson's Decathlon.

On the day I was born, MPAA President Eric Johnston testified for an hour before the House Un-American Activities Committee. He denied repeatedly that American movies were being used by communists to spread propaganda and rejected as impossible a suggestion that all actors and writers suspected of communist sympathies be fired from the industry.

The day before, J. Edgar Hoover told the House Un-American Activities Committee that communists had infiltrated the American film industry and were getting their "message" out to theater audiences.

Six days before, President Harry S. Truman's Executive Order 9835 required that all federal civil service employees be screened for "loyalty."

Although McCarthy did not become involved for a couple years, this was considered the beginning of the McCarthy Era.
