...try it with dill pickles and the cheese......Peanut butter toast with a slice of melted processed cheese.
This is wrong on so many levels Dio...lol....Almost never pass up escargot when I see it on a menu. Snails wrapped in bacon and served over a mushroom is the best.
I got a dare once in my university days to eat it (you never turn down a dare, right? At least not when you're 20 or something like that. It was a friend of mine from northern Sweden that wanted to introduce us to it. So a weekend at someones summerplace me and other he dared joined to eat it, the can was opened and i and one more rushed outside and throw up beside the stairs. I lost that dare but i dont regret it all. To eat it is not only objectionable it is, IMHO, utterly perverse!!Surströmming
Actually, NO! Even I’m not that perverse.
In high school I had a friend from Sweden in my senior year. One day at his house he cracked open a can of the stuff. I ran screaming in terror with the first whiff.

Love smelt.Speaking of fish, we used to fry up a big batch of smelts in the spring - they're good rolled in flour or bread crumbs and fried crisp in a black cast iron pan.
Smelt - The Canadian Encyclopedia
We opened it in a little shack, not the main house at his summerplace but the windows were open.
I read that it is usually opened outside because of the horrible stench
...could re-write the classic Nazareth tune with a reply like that....Love smelt.
You know, LoveSmelt could be a great name for a rock or whatever else band.....could re-write the classic Nazareth tune with a reply like that....

I know what you mean about the smell. How someone can get beyond the smell to actually eat it is beyond me.I got a dare once in my university days to eat it (you never turn down a dare, right?
