I was looking at some photographs last night of my father when he lived in America from 1949-1954. There's some pictures of him when he worked on a building site in Chicago and he's with a couple of white guys and a couple of black guys. My father told me the black guys got half the money of the white workers even though they were doing the same job. He said he felt extremely embarrassed by that discrimination. He told me he and a black guy he worked with decided to go to a jazz joint and my father had to go and take a leak and his friend was walking up ahead and when he caught up the black guy was being questioned by two cops, anyway when the policeman saw that my father was white, they went away. But the black guy said to my father that if he hadn't been there or had been black, he'd most probably have been harassed more. I suppose they call that 'profiling' now.

how I'm a failure and want to end it all. I have a substance abuse issue(alcohol) and will use any excuse to justify continuing it. I felt bad because I talked to this guy a few days ago and he told me he has a degenerative nerve disorder connecting the eye/brain receptors and he is slowly going blind. He asked me what I was reading while I was reading at the bar. He was a good guy. He had to hold his smart phone real close to his face. He started playing songs on the speaker on his phone and we sang the song 'The Gambler' by Kenny Rogers together.

Mr. Cranky!!! Quit that talk. Life is too precious (even though the capitalists don't think so). I've been in the midst of the rock bottom crowd and am amazed at the strength and ability some have shown to leave behind that albatross. I've always enjoyed, or a least read, what you've had to say on this board. That is contributing, not failing. I am hoping you are too cranky to ever follow that path. Let it come naturally. Peace, mal

(((((Mr. C))))) You are not a failure. So often I come to the board and smile because of your slightly twisted sense of humor. I also enjoy your posts about what you've been up to. Just because you have a struggle, doesn't mean you're failing. It means you're trying.
Please take Tery's advice and call the suicide hotline.

Hang in there and please get some help. Reach out and say that to someone close. Or contact the helpline - please. You are witty and smart and crack me up constantly around here. You made a friend just last night. All is not lost.

So remember my whine about that tooth? I went to the dentist Tuesday, thinking I'd just get a filling repaired. Nope - I got a surprise root canal and temporary crown - get the perm next week. Holy God - that awful. The smell of my teeth being sawed off and the sound of the drill were traumatizing. I kept trying to visualize happy memories: sitting on the beach, reading and eating bacon, wearing a new floppy beach hat - but my mind kept seeing a nerve dangling from the mangled roof of my mouth. I got the news that I've got another needing the same. Just kill me. The only good thing is: hydrocodone. I didn't know what mellow was until I took one of those.

I have had several crowns in the past few years; apparently my teeth are made of chalk. :rolleyes-new: Need three more. I take my MP3 player and ask for the gas. That's the only way I can deal. I even have a special playlist for the dentist visits.

Be careful with those hydrocodone pills! I just saw a documentary on how opioids were being over prescribed which led to heroin addictions for some people :icon_eek:

Hope that tooth gets better soon and the pain goes away

I have many little odd thoughts on my mind. Mostly right now is...how much hair pops off a dog. I work in dog hotel no matter how much I sweep and clean..hair is everywhere. It pops off some dogs like tumbleweeds.

Do you brush the dogs a lot? I find my Siamese cat sheds quite a bit and he loves it if I take the time to give him a good going over with the Furminator :cat:

I took a nap during my last root canal :)

I have to go back on Monday to have it finished.

I work the over night shift from 9pm to 6am so they are sleeping most times. When I take them out in the am....they never want the brush...just to go potty and be play. When I try to brush them they run and want me to chase them. Day crew dose brush them
