I'm going to tell you something weird. So this is news how? No, really. My mother told me that if you lose something that you take a minute to sit down, relax and be still, you then very politely ask the "Angels of Lost Things" to show you where what you are looking for is, then lo and behold you find it. It's pert near spooky how often this works.

That would, to practising Catholics be a prayer to St. Jude. Patron saint of lost causes.

Yes, scissors, pens, tape, measuring tapes, and socks are all items that disappear.

The flipside are those annoying items that seem to appear everywhere in my house: cat hair, the girls' hair clips, those card inserts from magazines, plastic lids from botttles, candy wrappers now that it's Halloween season, small sharp toys (I manage to find them when I am barefoot)

All the time. And now...I'm trying to remember the last item that went todash. That's how often it happens. Sometimes there's an easy resolution...like I'm looking for my cat's-paw...I've only lost a few of them. I just had the thing! Turns out I'm still carrying it in my apron. That or some other tool...nine times out of ten it's nearby. I lost an entire ship this once...spent most of the night trying to relocate it...Calderon and me kept running into these two other guys...I think they misplaced something, too. Have had things show up unannounced, as well...no clue, or almost no clue where they came from. The guy in the backseat was a real eye-opener.

Some items that recently went todash...the charger for my cell phone. Back from vacation, unpack the bags...one the morning after, another the next day (dirty laundry)...and I go to charge the phone. Yeesh! We left the thing? Or did Homeland Security obtuse it? Naw, just misplaced...brought it into the bathroom w/an electric shaver (for those neck areas and even w/a beard you have to trim unless you want to look like Gabby Hayes)...and then yesterday the wife is going to a craft fair and we're looking high and low for the card table. Walked by it at least three times...then the wife looks..."it's right there!" she says. Sheesh! Give me a break...it was hiding behind stuff...I say.
