Hi lowman,
If you are referring to the title of the thread, it's not a specific marathon. Anyone who wants to can watch as many horror movies as they want during the month and post their thoughts and list of movies here. Join us and play along.

5) The Blood Lands-(2014) Originally titled 'White Settlers', this is another home invasion movie. British couple moves to Scotland; on the first night in their new home, chaos ensues in the form of pig-masked invaders. Pretty anti-Scottish. It starts well--the woman actually fights back!--but pretty soon has the standard stupid scenes (leaving a weapon by a killer who is merely knocked out, oops! I fell, let's leave a clue so the killers know where I am, etc.). At one point my daughter yelled, "Do these idiots live in a world where horror movies don't exist?!" lol. Better than You're Next (less incoherent screaming of curse words), not as good as The Strangers or They. The acting, cinematography, and music are good, which is nice in a small horror movie. 6/10 (FTV)

Lol.....wait.....didn't you say you shouldn't watch home invasion movies? I try to avoid them at all costs too because when my husband goes out of town my imagination goes into overdrive. Some movies are like chocolate cake......you know you shouldn't but you MUST! :0:

Exactly :) Plus, that's the new 'thing'--it's hard to find a horror movie lately that doesn't have a home invasion aspect (that I haven't already seen). I'm always looking for something else, I promise! This one wasn't scary (in that sense) at all, thank goodness.

From Dusk Till Dawn. That Salma Hayek dance never gets old.

Also watched The Hungover Games. A parody film based on both The Hangover and The Hunger Games. Even though Carrie is one of the tributes, I don’t think it falls under the horror genre, but I wanted to give it a shout-out anyway (IFC is replaying it on Thursday, I believe). :)

4. Dark Was the Night (FTV)
When mysterious hoofed footprints and grisly deaths start occurring in a small woodsy Hamptons town, a grieving sheriff must overcome his personal demons to protect his town from a real one. Decent creature feature that rises above the usual B-movie stuff. Perhaps it takes itself a bit too seriously and could lighten up a bit (and the sound guy LOVED injecting LFE rumbles into a lot of shots), but on the other hand, how often do you get good actors and deeply fleshed-out characters in a monster movie? Cool to see Lukas Haas (the Amish kid in Witness) all grown up and still acting.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

1. The Baby's Room (LA HABITACIÓN DEL NIÑO) (FTV)
2. Our Mother's House (FTV)
3. Poltergeist (2015, in 3D) (FTV)
4. Dark Was the Night (FTV)

#16 ) The Amityville Horror (2005) re-make .. ended up watching this last night when I went to bed. It is the re-make of the classic.. with Ryan Reynolds. I give it a 2 out of 5 stars.. I don't know why I just don't like the classics messed with, however there are a lot of re-makes out there of movies that are better than the original, but this isn't one of them IMO.
It made me want to watch the original tho... so I did this morning.. lol

#17) The Amityville Horror (1979) 5 out of 5 stars. Absolutely love this horror classic.

I have two of those quarter circle windows in my house just like in the picture, but mine are on the side of the house. My neighbors call my home the Amityville Horror House. :)

Yeah, watched Devils Rejects again, so that brought me up to three, I think. Anyway, always thought this one was WAY better than House of 1000 Corpses, has some truly grisly moments...but, UGH, Rob Zombie's writing sucks. It's like somebody trying to write Tarantino dialogue, but failing miserably.

Started watching Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, but didn't get far-- had other things happening which forced me to cease viewing the flick. But I'd like to try it again sometime--I adore Bette Davis, loved her in Baby Jane.

I'm gonna try to squeeze in as many Christopher Lee movies as possible--in honor of Lee's recent demise. Might slip Curse of Frankenstein in the player tonight...

8) Carrie (2013) -- It was OK but didn't really get close to the original. For me Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek nailed both Carrie and her mom in that movie. Julianne Moore and Chloe Moretz are far from bad but they are not as good as the earlier portraials. Also Di Palmas direction is better in the original. But i liked that they stayed close to the book.

Watch The House That Dripped Blood :) He's only in 1/4 of the movie, but he's really good.

I watched a couple more this afternoon.

4. Silver Bullet
I have always liked this one a lot.

5. Witchboard
This one, I watched for nostalgia reasons. In junior high, my best friend and I watched this together. It scared the bejeezus out of us then! After the movie was over, we got even more scared. Her bedroom connected to the bathroom, and the door kept randomly popping open. We just knew David was coming to get us! It turned out to be a comb wedged in somehow, and that was why the door kept coming open. But we were properly freaked out by the time we figured that out.

Not so scary today, but it made me laugh, remembering that.
