Personally, I'm glad dudes don't bleed. Can you imagine?

Officer: "Sir, why did you beat your wife with a sledgehammer?"

Husband: "Because she wouldn't share her chocolate, and I was having a really bad day, and she just wouldn't listen...I don't know what happened, officer, I just snapped."

Officer: "Who was on their period?"

Husband: "We both were, Sir."

I have a wife and four daughters, which meant the 6 stages of a period was almost always in perpetual motion. Try being the scapegoat of all the mood-swings, anger and pain... nonstop, whydontcha.

I think you might qualify as an honorary member.I actually feel kind of bad for what you?lol.I always try and give my family(two guys) a warning/heads up every month.I need a PMS shack filled with books and water that I can retreat to.

My feminist side was angered at first about the old custom (maybe it's still done somewhere?) of having women required to be segregated for the time they're having their menses because to my (white) way of thinking they were being treated like piranhas because the men were afraid of their power as being near a menstruating woman would ruin their hunting "magic". When I read a little more about it, I realized what a great thing it was for the women as they got a mini-vacation every month as they didn't have to do any of their usual chores and someone else did that for them and it was too bad we didn't still do that. What woman wouldn't want a few days off from their duties every month? ;-D Wait a minute, it was most likely another woman who did them so actually she had to pick up the slack along with her own chores. Maybe not quite as good a trade-off as I originally thought. :hmm: In my best Emily Litella voice, Nevermind.

In my mind my "shack" is a mini gypsy caravan loaded with pillows, books and snacks with a big lock on the door. The custom does sound barbaric but I figure I try and just be alone one day a month so why not have a cushy pad to hang out in.Heck......I could even hook it up to the car and head to the beach/woods,ect.NOT that I have thought this through or anything ;;D

My better half was having a particular bad day of it, yesterday. I think that hunting "magic" thing may have evolved into a “survival” thing, so I ran out after voting and picked up a copy of Bazaar of Bad Dreams for her. And it seemed to have temporarily soothed the savage beast. :)

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had a group meeting and came up with the sequestration idea more for their benefit for those reasons but thought it would come across better and less likely to make the women angry by giving them the hunting magic story. :D

Segregating a menstruating woman, or a woman who had just given birth, goes clear back to Old Testament times. It used to be a "sin" to have intimacy with a woman during her time of month. She was "unclean", and would then make you "unclean" as well.

At first, it seems kind of barbaric and cruel, but think about the lack of instant hygiene back then. There probably was a good reason for it. Plus, the dudes had about a billion rituals to memorize and perfect, while the women had like five things to remember.

As much as I'd like a week long vacation every month, I'm sorta glad we've outgrown the straw huts and having to sacrifice a dove every time we turn around. Showers and tampons are waaaaay easier to deal with. :biggrin2:

I made the mistake, once, of saying to my wife during one tirade she was making about how men couldn't stand pain as well as women. I said something to the fact of "Does bit^hing about pain more make it easier to endure?"...she started talking to me again a few days later, but I decided then not to verbalize my thoughts as often....
