The Green Mile was one of my favorites and The Stand is my absolute favorite. As far as It goes not so much love there, but maybe I need a re-read.I'm currently reading The Green Mile. It's been on my to read list for a little while, and I've finally got around to reading it. I finished the first book, and nearly half way through the second. After that, I'll be starting The Stand or IT, I haven't decided, yet.
I don't love IT, either. The Green Mile was one of my favorites and The Stand is my absolute favorite. As far as It goes not so much love there, but maybe I need a re-read.
Same hereNothing to be sad about. Straub was never a big fave with me. The only one of his i fully approve of is Ghost Story.
That's one of the options for my book club for October. The Wayward Pines series was okay, so if this is the ultimate choice (members are still voting) it sounds like it could be goodStarted Dark Matter by Blake Crouch last night. The first chapter was excellent but my eyelids got heavy and I couldn't go any farther. It has a very promising start.
REALLY enjoyed The Turn of the Screw, Cody! I hope you do, too If you get a chance, see if you can find the movie The Innocents. blunthead introduced me a couple of years ago, and it's a very nicely done adaptation of James' book. Truly creepy.Beginning my Halloween Bingo reads today, with The Turn Of The Screw. Also continuing my SK reread with Skeleton Crew.
I liked it a lot! It's a fun, quick thriller — I read it in a day. That's one of the options for my book club for October. The Wayward Pines series was okay, so if this is the ultimate choice (members are still voting) it sounds like it could be good
Me too!!Same here
Am I the only one on the board who likes Peter Straub?
You're very welcome, I'm glad you like it! I really enjoyed it, too. She usually writes humorous southern mysteries but Revenant is darker.I started a book called Revenant (Carolyn Haines--thank you, Doc Creed !) last night. 5 chapters in and it's interesting so far
Nice! Not that anyone is wondering why it's taking me so long to finish Salem's Lot, I'll explain: I have no excuse- better time management is in order. (When I read, my toddler wants to be read to).
We end up switching to Afraid of a Bat! What's Up With That? by local author, Conrad Storrad. It's a great book for kids told through the POV of a bat!
Thank you! My teenager enjoys Sci fi fantasy. He refuses to read what I suggest because he's going through an oppositional phase. Hopefully that changes soon.It was the same for me when my daughter was a toddler!! You're setting a great example of loving and sharing books. My daughter just started college last month, she's an avid reader who often suggests books she has read that she thinks I'll like. It's great having a kid who loves books, keep up the good work!
How do you play that?Beginning my Halloween Bingo reads today, with The Turn Of The Screw. Also continuing my SK reread with Skeleton Crew.
It's an event being hosted over on Booklikes, where I blog. Here's the card:How do you play that?
WHAT?One of my favorites!
That's really cool! And here I thought you misspelled "Binge"!It's an event being hosted over on Booklikes, where I blog. Here's the card:
You pick one book for each square. Turn Of The Screw is my 'classic horror' pick. Forty or so people are playing- it's sort of a way of bringing the Booklikes community together. It's fun!
