Dana Jean... here’s a picture for your enjoyment that I took, and should get your blood pressure rising. ;)

No, that's great. My blood pressure won't rise. I wrote her. I wrote her a positive note. My son really enjoyed listening to her speak. I would love to hear back from her!

I'm toooooooo shy. I I I wooodn't know what to say...........:dbl:
"Stand Up To Cancer, which funds innovative cancer research. It's a collaboration with a great cause—and you wouldn't want to ruin Kate's Valentine's Day, would you?"

Okay, this is something she believes in. Write her a note telling her how much you admire her work for Stand Up To Cancer. She hears how gorgeous she is all the time, appeal to her brains and her cause.

My brush with the awesome: I used to work downtown in the Cotton Exchange Bldg and once a month we'd have happy hour and a nice big cake from the Peabody - so I was in the café picking up the cake on the day of the Dave Matthews concert (this was Aug 1999), and low and behold, right in front of me, purchasing a bazillion muffins was Boyd Tinsley. We had conversation - I floated back to the office in a state of euphoria - I am a huge fan and had tickets to the concert that night. If you don't know: he's the violist for DMB. His arms are gigantic and he's so freaking cool.

Oh man! I love love love Dave Matthews! That is just really awesome. Now, you should write Boyd and remind him of your lovely conversation at the cafe'!

Add me to the fan club. They're going to be in Bangor on June 6th but I waited too long and they're sold out. :( Not going to pay the ridiculous prices from sites like stubhub, etc. so will just have to hope they enjoy their time here and come back.

Here is the current list of letters that have gone out starting Feb. 27, 2014.

The Queen
Sarah Palin
Michael Caine
The Pope
President Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
Ambassador Caroline Kennedy
Dave Barry
Valerie Harper
Carol Burnett
Shirley MacLaine
Gary Busey
Dustin Hoffman
Stephen Hawking

If you could write and hear an answer from anyone living, who would you want that correspondence to be from?

I love your list! The one that struck me the most was Caroline Kennedy. I don't care who her family is, that woman can think clearly and write well. I've passed on three of her books (In Our Defense and The Right to Privacy--written with Ellen Alderman--and She Walks in Beauty--a poetry compilation) to many, many people.

Not sure who I would most like to hear from (aside from The Man King--lol--but he does that with every forward and afterward, so I guess I'm satisfied there). Maybe Bill Nye? Pope Francis? Putin is fascinating right now... Hm... You've given me something to ponder today :)

My note to Caroline was about Japan's drive hunt killing of dolphins.

After 1999 in the Pyramid I realized that their concerts were too big for me - I had been following them since they played very small venues so I am bit spoiled. Every now and then Dave does an acoustic tour with Tim Reynolds - catch that if you can. I saw that tour at a small college, there couldn't have been 200 people there - THAT was awesome. He sang Wild Horses - it was sublime. My daughter saw them here a few years ago and she called me to let me hear him open with Burning Down the House - that must have been super cool. Did I say I love Dave?

I would bo too. So Happy for you. I love personal notes. I have received a couple from members here on the board and must say I treasure them.
I just think that personal touch is going the way of the dinosaurs. With tweets and texts and emails.... I've done this in the past but this was a renewed energy with these current notes.

That's so super cool of him, and you! What a guy! I think you're right - it's such a lost art, but all of us appreciate it. I'm going to give it a try. I think I'll start with people I know though - there's some long overdue thank you letters (not for gifts) that I owe some important people.
I'm also doing them for people in my life, not just famous people. I think that is a great idea. Make them pretty and personal to the recipient. They will notice the time you took to really personalize it for them, not only in your words, but in the care you take in the packaging.
