What did you think about Hostel? I'm not crazy about torture porn, but after I misjudged the original Saw so badly I might need to rethink what I thought about this as well. The Crazies was interesting, I thought :)
Hostel was one I would definitely not watch again. I prefer the lighter horror/ sy fy movies.
The Crazies held my interest and was much easier to watch than Hostel.

EEP! Is it torture-y?
Most of it isn't shown because the focus is on the main character. Trust me, if I can watch it, you can! I am the biggest chickenshyte of all! I was tempted to quit watching in the beginning, but was already too invested in the main character. The twist at the very end is enthralling as well.

Well NOW you have me interested--lol. I have problems with rape scenes--I had an anxiety attack when my husband was watching Casualties of War, and I wasn't even in the room, I could just hear it. I finally had to ask him to turn it off until I wasn't around (I'm not sure he ever finished it, come to think of it). I might give this one a spin, but be prepared to turn it off if I can't do it. It does sound SO interesting, though!

Whew, okay. I got my movies in a list now so I can easily grab them.

In going through, I totally forgot to put my number 14 movie, Horrors of the Black Museum. This one isn't really all that good, but it is a childhood favorite. I so remember the binoculars that shot needles into the girl's eyes. That always freaked me out!

And I watched Burnt Offerings today.

I really like this movie. Always have. AGain, from when I was a young girl and saw it in the movie theater. I thought it was great. Oliver Reed does a great job, Bette DAvis and Karen Black, Burgess Meredith -- good actors in this one.

Saw is much better than Hostel. Roth has a fascination for showing pain inflicted on humans, be it intentional as in Hostel, or unintentional (because the tribes people are not really sadistic) as in The Green Inferno. In the first Saw it is all part of a bigger mystery and is meant as a punishment for former actions but in Roths Movies thats never the case. He seems to like it. The Green inferno has a better story than Hostel and is therefore a better movie but i'm not a fan of his movies. Takes horror in the wrong direction IMO.

I remember seeing an ad for Horrors of the Black Museum on TV, and remember seeing the movie. It was cutting edge - no pun intended - at the time. I've yet to see Burnt Offerings in its entirety.
