Olive oil is not the right way to go with frying. You have to add butter to settle it down, You got to use Veg oil or Peanut.

Now I want something fried.
Most restaraunts here in Canada use Canola oil. It is grown here in Alberta. Canola is as healthy as olive oil but does not have any odor or taste so foods cooked in oil retain their own flavor. We also use it for things like vinegarettes. Peanut oil is a no no in eateries because it can cause an allergic reaction. I always use canola. Remember that really old actor, Canadian Raymond Burr? He had a farm here out west and he grew it. Lol, just some of my useless facts.

I think so. Was not he on some science fiction show too? I do not know much of tv. I did watch it years ago but mostly only the old black and whites. I loved the british thrillers and old re-runs of musicals and comedy as in Abbott and Costello. Singing in the rain was my favorite with Gene Kelly.

I didn't know what I was doing. I was actually trying to fry them in a skillet in olive oil. And I think they would've been okay if I'd just taken them off the heat sooner.
Olive oil has a low smoke point - next time try corn oil or canola oil. (I don't fry a lot but my hubby the chef is an expert at these things). He comes from the land of the deep fried Mars bar (Scotland).

Grandpa, I think the smoke point of olive oil is too low for this application. They'll be burned, rancid tasting (as the oil flavors concentrate), or underdone, it seems to me. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. The Man (who is a former chef) agrees.
Ooops - jinx Coke I owe you one!

Andy my extremely unusual husband (and chef) says he can smell and taste Canola oil) - the guy is from another planet, I swear!

I think he would prefer the old solid Crisco lard they used to melt down in the old days xD
