The Phillies are in a rebuilding effort this year. Seems they went for salary relief and are taking chances on youth.

Maybe they can pull a Marlins. You never know in baseball because the there's not a great deal of talent difference between the majors and triple A. Sometimes when all the stars align, a young team can do very well. The Marlins had a bunch of young players along with the skinny versions of Miguel Cabrera and Josh Beckett and veteran Mike Lowell. It was enough to win it all.

Of course, being a lifelong Braves fan, the Marlins really piss me off. ;-D They made the playoffs twice (didn't win their division either time) and have two world series wins.

And the Jets are going to win the Super Bowl? :)

I'm confident we're going to get the win against the Padres. Though Shields is a tough pitcher.

Dodgers come up big. Rollins hits a 3 run homer to secure a win. It was a good day.

Red Sox kicked the crap out of the Phillies.

8-0. Pedroia hit 2 homers. Hanley Ramirez hit a solo homer and a grand-slam. Mookie Betts hit a homer. Bucchholz went 8 innings. 3 hits. 1 walk. 9 Ks. Great start!

thanks for the "help" - the way the Nats batted yesterday we'll need it (and our defense/fielding rusty as well). Ian Desmond did us no favors yesterday.

It's going to be a season of discontent for us Phillie fans. I get SO tired of saying "Well, there's always next year" so early and so often regarding all my sports teams. :(

I agree. In all honesty, I have to become more familiar with half the team, because I don't know most of the players who's on now! A lot of fresh faces.

But yeah, Tanaka just went downhill in the third inning :(

If I was a betting man I'd say Tanaka is going to need Tommy John surgery before the year is out.
