The Phillies are in a rebuilding effort this year. Seems they went for salary relief and are taking chances on youth.
Maybe they can pull a Marlins. You never know in baseball because the there's not a great deal of talent difference between the majors and triple A. Sometimes when all the stars align, a young team can do very well. The Marlins had a bunch of young players along with the skinny versions of Miguel Cabrera and Josh Beckett and veteran Mike Lowell. It was enough to win it all.
Of course, being a lifelong Braves fan, the Marlins really piss me off. They made the playoffs twice (didn't win their division either time) and have two world series wins.
