There was a short story about a house with its own lifeforce. I don't remember the name of the story (I'm not much help lol) but the house continued to grow without assistance from human construction crews.
I just rewatched the original Amyitiville (spelling..) Horror on DVD, it holds up pretty well. Has a lot of back and under story. Not bad at all. I can't stand the bloodfest, violent and sickening horror films that Hollywood churn out nowadays, no suspense and no common sense or atmosphere at all!!
They are totally devoid of nuance or good directorship.
I went back and re-read everyone's posts to make sure I am not duplicating anyone else's....but I had a thought this morning getting ready for work, day dream mode lol! S.K. has done a super job at tackling several different styles of writing, and he seems to be very confident in trying new things....I think it would be really neat to try a short story using all of us writing with him. I like to read down thru all of our posts on a thread, and I like the way we all knock off of one another...at least I have never heard of any other author doing such a thing! It would be fun to try someone leading "On a dark winding road...., and then the next guy posts and so on and so on......, maybe it's been done on here already? Just for our own selves I think it would be a fun project, it would be fun to see where the story would go and who would introduce new characters and what would happen to them during the telling.
Now damn it, this here's a subject one could go crazy over. Lotta ideas I see some folks already had, but here's my two cents:
Sequels? Wouldn't mind some more Stand. Few more Dark Towers (he could keep writin that stuff till doomsday far as I'm concerned). Maybe an amalgam sequel epic--two for the price of one, where Cujo gets buried in the Micmac burial ground. Holy crow!
Bachman. Gotta be another Bachman--The Cannibals, maybe.
Townie books, love LOVE the townie books--'knockers, Lot, Dome, N. Things. The big, thick suckers with a gazillion characters to keep track of. Love that stuff. Maybe one more Castle Rock tale?
Not knowing everything SK has written over the years there's a possibility he's already covered some aspect of this, but there are some interesting myths & folklore within the Native American culture. "Plains Devils" or "Stick People" (Ste-ye-hah' mah: Spirit hidden under the cover of the woods) from the Pacific NW region. Having come from Washington I would love a creepy, old time SK novel based in a small Cascade Mtn town. I think he could do a legend like that justice.

One of Ideas/topics I’m personally fascinated with is Telekinesis.
Most books/stories about this phenomenon treats it very mechanically and shallowly. By that I mean describing only “intentions of influence” and “influence” itself. I like in Carry that there were presented some “inner events” when she was using her gift. But still, she was young, inexperienced girl, who did not knew her own limits/boundaries.
I would LOVE to read about someone who may be called as “Master” – someone, who would use telekinesis very consciously with full awareness of his/her own limitation. Maybe even he/she could get an apprentice?
To learn how telekinesis is presented to Self – how it is perceived by it’s user – what kind of sensation it cause, what kind of effort is involved (as more psychic than physical) and what are true boundaries of the telekinesis?
I thought about it a lot and I think only the imagination is the limit.
Please consider usage of telekinesis in both micro and macro environment. On one hand such “user” might be able to move large object with his/her mind. On the other hand, with proper training and focus, he/she could also be able to influence the structure of the matter – as to change the properties of the chemical compounds or even the particles themselves – and by such manipulation the “user” might be able to “transmute” one kind of matter into the other (i.e. metal into gold, wood into chicken, etc.).
There’s also the matter of “fields” – to protect Self/Other-Selves or to imprison some-One or “lock” some object within the “point of space/time”.
I’ve wrote two stories about telekinesis. In one, a soldier is experimented on by the military and left on the street with “technologically induced” telekinesis (of course the military is watching closely their “lab rat”/soldier via technology like satellite or city traffic cams). When this poor man wakes up, he realize that his every movement and thought possess a “counterpart” in his outside environment, which he’s influencing directly. I’ve ended this story with gaining by the soldier so much “power” / ability so vast, that he simply “exploded”, destroying an entire street.
Second story I’ve wrote about earlier mentioned “Master”, but my problem with this story was to balance Master’s abilities with the World/Reality He existed in – I mean He was able to protect Self and influence everything with His thoughts, and I was unsuccessful in creating “an enemy” that would oppose Him efficiently. The only idea I got was that “Master” could have problems with influencing “pure energy” and that weapons that were using pure energy as “striking method” were able to hurt Masters body. But than again – Master was able to “fix” his material vehicle with his thought
I think I’ve created character too powerful to introduce some actual threats that would make the story really interesting.
Anyway, I would LOVE to read Mr. King’s take on such “Master” and what kind of limitation (as well as abilities) He would attribute him/her with.
