Okay, I have so many projects going, I finally broke down and bought a little book to make notes in so I wouldn't forget to make the car payment. Now if I can just remember to use the book. And then refer to it.

Anyway, this is one of the projects I will be doing soon.

I live in a very small house. If you are familiar with the Tiny House Movement, my house ALMOST qualifies square footage wise as a tiny house. It is your basic, builder grade cheaply built house. I plan on living here till I die. This is my home and I want it nice and creative and full of the things that I look at that give me memories and smiles and peace of mind.

So, to add some ooomph to my basic builder grade doors, this is what I am going to do.

Your link led me to another one about "laneway houses" in Vancouver BC. So basically they appear to be about the size of a double car garage.

I think I would go a bit nuts if I could not get away from the other folks in my family and just have some 'alone' time (this is one of the reasons I go soak in a hot bathtub with my head partially submerged) I need to block out the sound at times and relax.

I had never heard of laneway homes. Very cool. The tiny house movement is really taking off. l here in the states there are a couple shows on the tube dedicated to tiny house building and living, or house hunters for tiny houses. No, I couldn't live in one, but I would sure love to ahve one in my backyard as a getaway place.

I try to be extremely conscientious about wastefulness and am very frugal. I would do just fine living in a "small house" as long as I could live there alone or with maybe one other person who I could stand being around.

yes, maybe i could live in one alone, but not likely. i like my crafting and quilt making and that takes a lot of space.

I would definitely need an architect to design a lot of hidden storage space and would need to hire someone to help me organize. So my thought is, it would cost me more money (at this point) to "live small" than I currently spend! I am trying very hard to downsize though.

I am too. I am a caregiver for 2 little boys and the home I go to is so unbelievably organized. On one hand, I love it. On the other, it seems too stark and sterile. I am trying to learn from them and make the best of both worlds. Making my home Organized and uncluttered, yet creative and interesting too.

I LOVE this idea Your doors are going to look spectacular! My Grandparents lived in an old small home and the diningroom walls were layered (like an extra piece of wallboard with square cutouts was attached to the wall and then frames were also added). I loved those walls lol. The house was also old enough to have interior oak doors with panels and crystal doorknobs

Quick and Easy Craft Project

I use those checkbook sized calendars. This year I noticed you can also buy clear vinyl checkbook covers that can be personalized. You don't need a computer art/photo program - just cut a piece of paper to fit and affix mini photocopies of favorite SK book covers, favorite album covers, illustrations, photos, etc. A small piece of poster tape should work - you only need the photos to stay put until you get them in the cover. I'm not sure if I can drop a link to a shopping website here but just go to amazon and search 2 pocket calendars by wings & 5 clear checkbook covers by wings.

With six of us and two dogs, every area is used every day, and we have to get rid of things all of the time to stay organized. If something is out of place by much or for long, it can look like a disaster pretty fast. My husband's fantasy is to live in a tiny home when the kids are gone, but I dunno...this one will be paid off, so all we'll owe are taxes. That's pretty seductive to me. Right now I content myself by going to IKEA occasionally, looking at their 300 sq. ft. mock house, and going, "Yeah, I could live here."

They have one of those? We just recently got an IKEA here (finally) but I have yet to check it out. (It is in the South end of the city).

I love IKEA! Simple styles, well made, and for a minimum cost. We don't go often because it's about an hour's drive away, but at least every couple of months.

I'm now seriously considering (to the point that I've contacted contractors) expanding it by taking over the garage as my craft studio and adding on a new 2-car garage. There's no way I could live in a tiny house unless it was a vacation home.

Those tiny homes are very cute! much cuter than the travel trailer I want. This is the trailer I want. I don't even care if we don't use it as a travel trailer. I just want to park it in the back yard and pretend its a vacation home lol.

Would a 2-car garage be big enough for all your crafts? When I chose our house plan, I had planned on making one of the front rooms a craft room but hubby wanted to take my parent's piano (which neither of us play) and their living room furniture with us. So now, instead of a craft room, we have a living room we never go into
