The site with the instructions and they sell supplies, of course, is thebeadman.com.

I can't get the lighting quite right for the necklace to not have a little glare but still show the silver--these jump rings are Argentium silver which was still relatively reasonably priced when I made the necklace. The beads are Swarovski crystals but they are a milky color with just a little shine to them as I wanted it to be more like snow than ice. It's really much prettier in person.

Most of the rest of my pieces are packed up. I'd had them in my cousin's shop but she decided to close up her business and I just haven't unpacked everything. Too busy doing other things.

Your necklace is to die for! (do people still use that expression? lol) it's gorgeous! :) I saw some Swarovski crystal beads at Beadaholique and wondered about ordering some - now I know I will :) They sparkle so beautifully in your necklace.

How did I miss finding thebeadman in my web travels??? It's a terrific site. The projects and instructions are wonderful. I'm going to be spending the day looking through it (instead of Pinterest lol). Thank you! :)

I'm glad you mentioned tool magic - I would not have thought to use something like that. I ordered my jump rings and wire from theringlord in Canada because they make rings n things out of anodized titanium. I'm allergic to most metals but titanium is naturally hypoallergenic. I had a pair of titanium earrings I wore constantly and they never bothered me. Anyways, I don't want to mar the titanium so I will for sure use tool magic :)

Soooooooo.... Where are we setting up shop? :) Arizona?

;-D Well, the Tucson Bead Show is every February and is a big deal in the jewelry community.

Good luck and have fun with it--it can get addictive! If there's anything I can help you with, let me know. A couple other on-line suppliers are Fire Mountain Gems and for higher end quality, Rio Grande (riogrande.com). They both have an extensive supply of Swarovski beads and just about anything else you can imagine.

Do you know happens when you wake up at 2am and can't go back to sleep so you check your mail from Pinterest? Answer: You look at Valentines Day recipes. You find out what happens when you drink honey with warm water every morning. You find ten more chainmaille pins you'd somehow missed seeing before. You check out macrame bracelets because they were mixed in with the chainmaille. Ha! and Mulder and Scully were concerned when just 7 minutes of time was lost. Could Pinterest be an extraterrestrial invention?

Have any of y'all ever macrame'd? I used to a long time ago but I never made anything more difficult than belts and hanging planter pot hangers. I thought this bracelet was cute and it looks like it uses just two basic knots.
image.jpeg

Ms Mod... I think I want to try making this bracelet. Can you guess the gauge/size of the jump rings? And do those look like size 8/0 seed beads to you? lol... You may decide you made a mistake when you said to ask if there's anything you can help me with :)

Hard to tell, but I'd say either a 3, 3.5 or 4 and the beads do look like an 8/0 to me, too, but could be a 6/0. Those are the same type that I used on the sides of the caterpillar bracelet. Those are the sizes I'd start with if I was making it.

You made an owl? I saw instructions for an owl and I loved it but it looked so complicated, I never tried making one :( Got a photo? :)

I have problems with my thumb joints... I probably should have considered that before I decided to take up a craft that requires a bit of hand strength :(

Sorry no pictures of the one I made. May I suggest you try doing simple sample knots and see how your thumb reacts. I have a similar issue, and some crafting is ok, others -ouch.
This is almost like the ones I used to make-

Moderator That is gorgeous!

no bounce no play I used to macrame - it was way long time ago, but very soothing. A very vintage skill. I love those owls Spideyman !

Re: pinterest - I have such fun on it. One of the strangest things to me is that my most repinned pin is a fairy house that I did for a Mother Daughter Fairy Tea Party when I was a Girl Scout leader. It's not such of a much, but it's my most popular pin. There are so many better things. Maybe a lot of folks are having fairy themed parties. It was a fun event.

Most of my obsessions are short lived too :( Sometimes I lose interest in craft projects after figuring out how to make them. I was totally fascinated with quilling for a while but after I figured out how to make carnations and leaves, I gave it up. I still love the appearance of quilling but it takes a bit more patience than I have to complete an entire scene. Now that I'm on a jewelry making kick, I would take up quilling again to make charms if I knew how to waterproof and stiffen the paper. Do you waterproof your paper cutting projects? Wait... you'd best not tell me lol.

Today's Pinterest Adventures :)

Today I learned how to transfer images to wood or fabric using wax paper or freezer paper. I'm putting that on a back burner for now - it looks messy... plus I don't have a printer lol. There were also some pins for steampunk things. I did NOT click on them - One of y'all had posted pics of steampunk picture frames a while back and I totally fell in love with steampunk :)

What Pinterest adventures have y'all taken part in today?

I made paper beads and went to the store and bought copper end pieces. I sent some to Marsha to use in future jewelry projects. They are pretty cool. You just seal them with a clear enamel, but it is paper, so you just have to be careful.
