Hello all. I have searched for a thread about this topic, if I have missed it - feel free to delete this one!

My favorite band is Rammstein - I have seen them live many times, and also met them. For some reason, no other music have the same effect on me.
I also love:
Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler
Ramones
Jack White
White Stripes
+ a lot of old school rock/metal/pop
I just love music!
How about you? What are your favorites?

This pic I took at a Rammstein concert in 2009 - those angel wings are my favorite stage props of all times!

The only Procol Harum tune most people are even aware of is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which, while being great, is not among even my top ten of their tunes.
I am no expert, but I have heard more of their songs than Whiter Shade of Pale :) If I wanted to start exploring Procol Harum, what album would you suggest I start with?

I haven't even heard of Beefheart and the Magic Band - what kind of music is it?

Sorry for the double post, but I don't know how to do multiple quotes...

I saw them live once, and was fortunate enough to meet the "new" singer. Very nice guy, soft spoken and kind.
That's cool. I missed my chance to see AIC back in 1993 or 94. They opened for Ozzy Osbourne in Lampe, Missouri. My dumb assed roommate was late getting home for some reason so we were very late arriving at the event. As we got out of my truck, we could hear "Man in the Box", which turned out was their encore song. We got into the concert right as they finished up. Not sure if I've ever been that pissed off before or since. Ozzy was awesome, but I had bought tickets to see AIC, so it was a quiet drive home..lol

I assume the two Procol Harum CDs considered by most to be the best are Shine On Brightly and A Salty Dog, though my personal favorite is Home. I suggest you start with A Salty Dog because Shine On Brightly is a bit unusual in that one side consists mostly of a kind of opera. Here's one of my favorites from Dog (best played LOUD, of course :) )…

Of course I'll have Beatles, Stones, Dylan & Neil Young on my list. After that it's an ever changing list but some other favorites are

Black Sabbath (all versions but especially Ozzy & Dio versions)
Soundgarden
The Allman Brothers (all versions)
Iggy & The Stooges
Pearl Jam
The Velvet Underground (& Lou)
Bruce Springsteen
North Mississippi Allstars
The Black Keys
The White Stripes (& all of Jack's bands)

Pink Floyd are the bar setters for me, and no body else can reach it. My top 3 Floyd songs are (in no order) Marooned, High Hopes and Coming Back To Life.

I used to listen to Rammstein when I was a bit younger, my favourite song is probably Du Hast or Ich Will. Pussy was good too, especially the video :)

As for everyone else, I like the following most (again, no order):

Iron Maiden
Foo Fighters
Dire Straights/Knopfler
Nirvana
Dragonforce (up to Inhuman Rampage) - the last good new band before rock music officially died
Tom Petty
Queen

@DiO'Bolic - Frank Zappa was very strange indeed, and I can appreceate humor in rock music, but I just can't listen to him for too long. Credit to him though, he was a phenomenal guitarist and very creative, he also had a fantastic ability to understand different types of music almost instantly.
