It's a bit silly, but seeing my son get interested in reading is a big accomplishment for me. Reading has always been such an important part of my life and I very much wanted him to be able to kick back and just enjoy reading a book. He's almost ten years old and I can see that he actually enjoys reading. He will get very quiet sometimes and I'll peek into his room to see him hunched over his computer desk with a book. When I ask him how he's doing, he gives me the mumbled "I'm ok" but he's really not there, he's reading. I like to see that.

I think so far my greatest accomplishment is graduating from University having a degree with honors. That's something I am really proud of, as it was hard. I am sure that if I have kids in future, I would certainly call them my greatest accomplishment, but so far...
it is quite an achievment graduating with a degree with honours. What is your speciality? I have no degree but the equivalent of a master's degree. apparently in ireland if you write a 2 page essay on the paradoxe of time travel, you are not good enough to be in college. Congrat on the degree.

it is not silly, which would you rather him have, enjoy a book or being hanging on the street. It is an excellent, intellecutal hoppy. he will thank you for it. have you given him any SK yet?
...greatest accomplishment?....having the sense to marry my beloved....

I had a pretty ravenous cocaine habit for about 4 years up until around 2007. I'd say making it out of that situation without a felony record was a big achievement, most folks I knew at that time are still either strung out or have the felony on their jacket really holding them back in life. Also, the fact that I was able to finish school during that time period without allowing the habit to screw that up was a stroke of luck as well.

I've always been proud, not pridefully I think, of the achievement of my nursing license. The main reason I've felt proud is that to finally cross that finish line took an amount of discipline and determination I would'nt've believed existed if told in advance.

I don't mean to discourage anyone considering a nursing career. It's just that my temperament demanded an approach which made the experience the greatest challenge it could be. (Ha. Maybe I just explained to myself some of my life problems.)

Realizing I was in a bad relationship, and removing my daughter and me from it. Then 5 years later meeting the man I should have met in the first place.

My god I hear this. Big love to you :love_heart::love_heart:

My greatest accomplishments, I feel, are having my babies & raising them well as I can, marrying my truly amazing husband, passing my driving test after the 4th attempt, and after a period of homelessness, having a roof over mine & my familys head.

Without hopefully sounding too patronising - nurses are our unsung heroes who dont get the recognition they deserve in such a tough, demanding, overstretched caring profession, & you should be rightfully proud of your achievement.

I've let him read a couple of S.K. books. He read Eyes of the Dragon in about a week. He liked it very much. The whole medieval era of the book hooked him. He also read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and liked that one quite a bit. He's reading War of the Worlds right now and he seems to be liking that also. I bought him a Nook so he can have multiple books going if he wants. I'm trying to fan the flames all I can when it comes to reading. I'm not quite ready to let him read Mr. Mercedes yet...maybe a few more years...lol. I'm lucky that he is very intelligent like his mother, and not a dullard like his old man. There may be hope for him yet:)

...I thank you for that...I have my moments, and she knows I love her with my heart and soul...but I do a damn fine job of layering it over with a thick paste of curmudgeon...
