I couldn't agree more. Every time a new SK book comes out I always hope for real doorstopper. I loved the uncut version of The Stand. I've read The Stand so many times I've lost count!Stephen King said in notes or a foreword that the phrase "the end" was one of the most loved and hated in the English language, especially for a writer and I've never forgotten it. One thing that gets me is that he gets complaints about his books being too long. I love a really fat book! I can chill out, settle in and really enjoy it. Love it when he brings out "uncut" books like The Stand and Salems Lot. I can't believe editors when they've told him to cut bits out. How dare they! If it was written in then it's meant to be there so leave it be! Why would you prefer a skinny little book? Might as well read a short story (which he does really well too) One of my fat favourites is "It" read about 8 times.
