Was minus 20 according to our thermometer when I got up at 5 AM but WeatherUnderground says the low in Bangor was only 4 so hoping it's a glitch with our thermometer. Maybe it fell in a snowbank. Currently 8 in Bangor with a high of 22 forecast but at least no more snow or ice.

Maybe they meant that it was 4 under the city..............:frog:

;-D We have been talking about trying a little garden this year. But now the spot the garden was going to go is being scoped out for a good storage shed, so we'll see what happens. I would love a shed because that is a step closer to getting all manner of stuff out of my basement and actually getting a start on finishing it...the room that is supposed to be my 2nd bathroom is called "the tool room." :facepalm_smiley: ;-D But I would like a little garden, too. We do have a good size back yard, but I would be very opposed to tearing up any grass to plant a garden, it took us about 4 years to get a nice lawn growing. (And I think I could grow a garden? ;-D)

You can grow quite a lot in containers which wouldn't require tearing up your lawn and could easily be moved once the gardening season is done or you figure out that that spot might not have been quite as good as you thought it would be when you started your plants. ;-D

That is a good idea! Then I would be fighting for space in the storage shed next fall. ;)

We were going to make some flower beds with rail ties too, maybe I could use that space for some edible plants, start out really small. Still put flowers in the front. Maybe if I was successful at growing some stuff, I would consider tearing out a small patch of grass. ;-D

Absolutely! In fact some flowers--marigolds in particular--are good natural deterrents for insects so they're planted in with vegetables for that very reason as well as looking pretty. :smile2:
