Last film I saw was Blade Runner, 2007 Final Cut, at the cinema. I have it on DVD (Collector's Tin, no less ;)), but it was my first time on the big screen.
Just...wow.

I saw a 35mm print of the theatrical cut of Blade Runner a few weeks back. Cut was in rough shape in parts but still cool to se it on the big screen. I prefer the directors cut to the the theatrical cut myself.

Finished up The Hobbit trilogy last night with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

It was OK. Probably the best of the three films. Still way too long, though. It should have only been about an hour and half long. They used up additional time to set a lot of the backstory for LOTR. All of which is covered in the book The Silmarillion. Not sure why they just didn't stick to the source material and make another set of movies that focused on these other events.

120 miles S of the Pancake/Waffle line
1941 (1979) directed by Stephen Spielberg

This movie has a great director, a gigantic cast of the very best comedic actors and a huge budget. It also happens to be a comedy that is almost totally void of humor. I'm just going to blame this mess on the writers and director. The actors try their best but there's not much they can do with the lame material. There are only a handful of funny moments and most of those involve John Belushi. This movie so loud and chaotic that it makes me think Spielberg thought that the more explosions and destruction there was, the funnier it would be. If that's the case, he was wrong. This was a colossal waste of great comedic talent.

The Avengers, to get ready to see Age of Ultron this afternoon :) Liked it the first time, and I still love it umpteen times later. Best superhero movie yet made (Nolan's Batman movies aren't superhero movies, in my ledger--they're psychological dramas).

Before that, The Exorcist. Still creeps me out after all these years. I watched Exorcismus the other day, and it was highly unsatisfying. The Exorcist is superior in execution and reasoning.

Age of Ultron was very, very well done. Can't say enough good about it--one little maybe misstep, but that was it. Solid superhero movie, but with a bit more introspection than the first. Good job tying in the disparate character movies between The Avengers & this film, and good set ups for the upcoming movies. Marvel/Disney should just throw money at Joss Whedon until he agrees to do #3--the character arcs her set up in this film need him for continuity.

Saw Avengers: Age of Ultron today and really loved it. My only complaint was that I couldn't decide who to look at most when Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans were on the screen.

We were going to go to a matinee but got tied up with yardwork and errands instead. Yeah, we're that old.

But it's good to hear these great reviews! And for Grandma, there's no mistaking who the eye candy is for her. Every time we saw the preview with Chris Hemsworth coming out of the water, I heard her twitch.

He's a cute guy (if not really my type--lol), and he seems like a kind one, as well. They finally gave him a little character development--more than he's had since the first Thor movie. So much they could do with that character; Thor is, well...a little stupid in the comics. The movies are better, but they are wasting Hemsworth (who is not stupid) by not expanding his character more. It was definitely a fun movie, and one I'll likely see at least once more in theaters. We all enjoyed it! My absolute favorite part is the dialogue--it's full of funny moments that are completely believable (not 'comedian funny', but 'real people talking with friends funny'). My heart belongs to anyone who makes their characters speak in a natural manner.

Shake Hands With Danger. An industrial safety film from the early seventies, with a buncha no-name actors getting in all kinds of gory accidents at the job site. One guy smacks a sledge hammer against a steel spike with a mushroomed end--stupidity right there, as a chunk of steel flies off and pierces his heart. Blood everywhere. But real fake. Saw this on TCM 'Underground'--you stay up late enough on Saturday night and TCM shows all kinda weird junk. I think it's designed to draw in the younger, possibly stoner audience.

I watched David Lynch's Wild At Heart. Got it from Amazon as it was finally re-released on dvd this past month. Great film! I'm not a Nicolas Cage fan at all but he's tolorable in this one. The relationship between him and Laura Dern really comes off as genuine. They play a pair of doomed lovers. Very violent film with lots of graphic scenes. Harry Dean Stanton is in it- he's always been a favorite of mine!

I agree with everyone's Avengers: Age of Ultron reviews! It was awesome! Immensely enjoyed it. The story was so complex and it had great character shifts and development from the first movie. It was pretty wild and dark. Only gripe I had was
all the romantic stuff between Hulk/Black Widow. It was a lot? Don't know why Joss threw that in there...:/

Bowling for Columbine: 9/10

Brilliant.

Saw this awhile back. The Columbine incident was a horrific tragedy orchestrated by two very disturbed individuals. Very sad.

All I have to say about Michael Moore is that he is quite the ultra-liberal propagandist. I don't like to be preached to by those trying really hard to be the smartest guy in the room. Just my opinion. Carry On!
