Tried to watch The Mouse on the Moon the other day.

I had good memories of reading The Mouse That Roared and The Mouse on the Moon in my younger days, with the exploits of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, and enjoyed the Roared movie with Peter Sellers. So I looked forward to this old sequel.

Yawner. Couldn't get through it. Uninspired writing and acting. Now I'm wondering if Roared was as enjoyable as my memory has it.

Just finished The Omen, original version. I still think it's superior to the remake or any of the sequels, largely due to Gregory Peck. His acting rises above the stylized 'old-Hollywood' quirks (posing in shots, the dramatic scream, etc) to something very dignified and even touching in parts. Very glad I watched it again :)

Ooooh, this was terrifying! I watched this for the first time as a wee nipper... I did not sleep well for a long time after it.

Mad Max: Fury Road

I've been waiting for this movie since August 2013, and tonight, I finally saw it. I can't make a proper judgement just now, too much sensory overload combined with the surreal fact I HAVE FINALLY SEEN THE MOVIE.

Just some thoughts of the top of my head, some spoilers. Big spoilers are in more spoiler tags:
Anyone else notice
a near subliminal flash of the Toecutter's bulging eyes from Mad Max 1 in one scene ?

The action was friggin' brilliant. Tom Hardy was great, as was Charlize Theron. Nux is up there with Wez and MasterBlaster (from Beyond Thunderdome) in terms of memorability. I also really liked The Dag, she was my favourite of the Wives.

I was really shocked when
Angharad was run over, and then had the baby ripped out of her.

Immortan Joe's face being torn off
should go down in the history of great gory movie deaths.

Right now, I'll give it a 9/10. I HIGHLY recommend it. Don't wait for the DVD, it is meant for the big screen.

Finally, all that pent-up tension is released. Now you can go back to being normal, well, normal for you anyway....;-D

The Switch (2010) - Jennifer Aniston; Jason Bateman

Predictable but cute romance. I love Jason Bateman so, to me he saved the movie.
So totally agree (see my post on previous page about the movie This is Where I Leave You). I generally like all his movies even if I'm not too fond of the story or his co-stars.

Havoc (2005) Anne Hathaway, Joseph G Levitt, Mike Vogel, Freddy Rodriguez, Channing Tatum

Awful movie but kind of fun to watch because of all of the stars above playing high school aged kids.

Rich high school kids are pretend thugs but they think they are the real thing. They decide to go hang out downtown with the real thugs and the rich kids learn a lesson that they are just pretend thugs after all. This is basically a R rated after school special. ;-D

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) George Clooney, John Turturro

Hilarious Cohen Brothers movie based on The Odyssey. The Cohen Brothers call it "The Lawrence Of Arabia" of hayseed movies. I've seen this one before and it gets funnier each time I see it.

I'll have to try to watch this again. I never could get through it - and I love all the other Cohen brother movies. Your post makes me want to sit down and make myself watch this start to finish....

The Judge (2014) - Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall
- Good movie, not entirely what I expected which is also a good thing. I never got bored and enjoyed the characters in this movie, so, I give it a thumbs up.

Extract (2009) - Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck & Mila Kunis
- Fun, silly movie. It has Jason Bateman in it (which was why I watched it) - he never disappoints. For what it was, it was pretty good.

I was a little lukewarm to it the first time I saw it too but it got better with repeat viewings. Almost all of the Cohen Brothers movies get better with repeat viewings. They are amazing that way.

I don't think that I got that it was based on The Odyssey the first time I saw it. When I realized that, the movie really clicked.
