Finally able to get to the cinema again (illness in the family has kept me at home):

Minions - daftness and fun from the much-loved little yellow rascals.
Terminator: Genisys - decent sequel to 1 and 2, much better than 3 and 4.
Ted 2 - overdoes the profanity and dope gags, but laugh out loud funny, with some very clever humour was well as the broad stuff.

Is this film a remake of then 70s film?
Yeah. I'm really not a fan of hipster horror: 'ironic' 70s refs, wooden acting, everyone mumbling unless they're screaming curse words over one another, pointless graphic sex and violence (both come out of nowhere, without reference to what's happened before)... bleh. Not scary. Just loud and annoying.

Jupiter Ascending.

I guess the Wachowskis wanted to make a movie that made the Matrix series sensible. Pros: decent effects, lots of budget, and Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum chew up the scenery. Cons: Everything else. If you're stuck in the cabin on a stormy night and watching LOTR for the 74th time is a little too wearying, you could pop this one in. I saw it during a flight over the Pacific. It made me glad I didn't pay for it. It made me wonder if I shouldn't have slept instead.

But at least it held my attention, more or less. The next one I tried was....

Focus. Started out with Will Smith and some blonde lady. It was so silly and contrived 15 minutes in that I switched it off. And I enjoy Will Smith. But sleep sounded better.

I always wondered about Jupiter Ascending. It has Channing Tatum in it, which at the time that it was being publicized on television, was THE hottest thing to hit earth in forever and yet I never saw him on a talk show promoting it and he wasn't even mentioned in the commercials as far as I could tell. That, to me, is a pretty good indication that a movie is going to suck.

He plays a warrior elf with rocket boots.

Seriously. Really. I'm serious.
