So it's the same character he played in Magic Mike? ;;D Good Lord, the make-up job in this pic is just awful!!!

I didn't see Magic Mike. But yeah, Star Trek in the '60s did better with Spock.

The movie really tried. There was one part where they're trying to establish the queen's identity, and they go through a labyrinth of archaic bureaucracy - which would have, should have, been funny, except that it's been set up as a world that can rebuild an Earth city, mass-engineer memories overnight, and walk through Stargate screens from one place to another. And then clerk elves are in a Harry Potter setup with desk drawers. It could've been funny. Ms. Kunis trouped her way through. "I'll never complain about the DMV again," or something like that. But it was odd.

Note to make-up artist: Neck should be the same color as the face. Seriously.

Finally watched 'Somewhere In Time' with a friend tonight. Sappy but quite effective film. Christopher Reeve gives a strong performance but Jane Seymour steals the film! Based on a Richard Matheson novel.
I remember when that movie was all the dreamy-eyed sighing rage :) It really wasn't bad, but the book was better.

The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby-Him. This was one of an interesting-sounding trio of movies about the failure of a marriage. This one was from the man's perspective, and James McAvoy did his usual sterling job. Ciaran Hinds plays his father, so the few accent mistakes each makes has the audience going, "It's okay, they're immigrants from (McAvoy is Scottish and Hinds, Irish, so who the heck knows)." First movie with Bill Hader where I didn't want to kick him in the neck, so that's a positive, too. The second film is the same name-Her (from the wife's perspective), and the third is the same name-Them, where the viewer gets to see the whole story put together. Not sure how well it will work, ultimately, but the film I watched was absorbing.

The Drop--Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapaci, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Gandolfini From a story/book (it was first a short story, expanded to a book) by Dennis Lehane. I enjoyed this one very much! The three foreign actors did decent Brooklyn accents, the story moved quickly, and the acting was top notch. I'll definitely watch this one again.

12 Angry Men.

What a good movie that was. I could have some factual nitpicks, but what's the point? It's a movie! And darned good one. Some of the acting is probably overplayed for today's audiences, but that's an after-the-fact observation. i enjoyed it all the way through.

Henry Fonda was understated, and thank you. Lee J. Cobb ran away with the rage-fueled acting chops. And the old man was the most interesting one there.

I hadn't seen it before. Now I'm glad I have.

I've seen it a dozen times(!). It's a favorite and a perfect example of great movie-making on a budget. I think Fonda had to finance it himself.
