Well, I just watched It's A Wonderful Life for the first time ever. I have seen bits and pieces of this over the years, but never the whole 3 hour thing. The last hour was great. The first 2 were unnecessary.

And WTH? We never
get to see Mr. Potter go to jail for KEEPING eight thousand dollars?!!!!!!! In-con-ceivvvvvable!

I will not watch this movie ever again.
I could watch the end scene 1000 times and cry every time. There's just something about the kindness of all his friends...chokes me up.

I really did like that last hour. Where Jimmy sees what life would've been like without him. But man! Why did it take sooooo long to set up that last hour? They could've put all of the pertinent information in 15 minutes with a skilled writer.

to tell you this, but it honest to God took me about a month to watch it. I would get 10 minutes in and think, yep, that's it for today. I'd wait a week and watch 10 more minutes. 5 here, 15 there. The last hour I watched complete.

Humbug!

I liked it that first seventy times. Now I wanna strangle ZuZu AND her petals.

My new favorite Jimmy Stewart Christmas movie is Ernst Lubitsch's The Shop Around The Corner (1940). It's become a sort of underground tradition with me over the last couple of years. It always seems to be on when I'm wrapping the stupid presents.

Never heard of that one. ZuZu was lucky crazy daddy didn't drown her in the tub.

On my first viewing I had the same response. I've decided that the movie is a story about how innocence defeats evil. At the end, Potter, a dishonest thief who's made a lucrative living at it, has an extra $8k; George Bailey is surrounded in his own home by everyone who loves him, people who owe their lives to him, a great big Christmas tree, no fewer than two government officials publicly acquitting him, a 4-bushel basket of cash- $20s and $50s floating in the air - a free piano player, and wine.

Potter's already in jail, has been the whole time. George has always been free. Nothing can ever keep him down for long.

Good observations. You hit it right on the head.

Me And Earl And The Dying Girl - teen cancer drama which manages to be entertaining, emotional and amusing without being sentimental or mawkish.
No Escape - Owen Wilson and fam trying to escape death in oriental revolution: unrelenting suspense
American Ultra - stoner Jesse Eisenberg is unknowingly actually highly resourceful killer in entertaining but exceedingly violent action thriller with laughs

Los Inocentes-Spanish teen slasher flick :) Cute kids, lots of Spanish cursing, pretty good special effects. Like in every slasher, there are things that don't make much sense, but if you just roll with it it's a fun movie.

Did a re-watch of The Cell starring Jennifer Lopez and the always fantastic Vincent D'Onofrio. Hadn't seen it in years and forgot alot of what happens. This movie is so visually stunning! The sets, the costumes, everything is like it's in hyper-reality (or hyper-subconscious as it were). I don't think there's a false note anywhere in this one.

I was just looking for something around an hour long, so I could mostly finish it before my meds kicked in and I fell asleep--lol.

It's very difficult to pick up where you left off when you fall asleep during a netflix movie. Trying to fast forward to the correct spot is difficult. It's much easier on a dvd to find your spot.

Plus there is that thing where you just don't suddenly drop off to sleep and you can remember a few things past the point where you thought you fell asleep. I always find it amusing when I think I saw most of the movie and when I find my spot, it's only 25 minutes in. ;-D
