Cold Mountain, for the eleventy billionth time. No one gives a bad (or even mediocre) performance in this movie, and it's absolutely beautiful to look at. Love the book, too :)
I was in a school play - 1066 And All That - with the late Anthony Minghella. He was The Common Man (the lead character) and I was the Duke Of Marlborough (one of 100-odd other minor characters). He would have known the tower in my avatar very well, it's in his home town.

I understand...his acting lacked luster in this film. But I didn't mind watching him. :)

thats another thing i never qiute got..... I can understand people swooning over Pitt, Clooney, DiCaprio or Depp but Affleck??? I guess i never gonna get that but i'm happy he fulfills some demands...... His acting certainly doesn't. Did you see Daredevil??

Wow. I loved that movie. Although Affleck was not what I pictured when I read the book I thought he was excellent. I loved the way the film so echoed the book.
Didn't like the book either. It was a good premise but the characters, both the main ones, acted so stupid in the circumstances. A much better book with a similar Outlook is Carthage by Joyce Carol Oates

I think Affleck is a very solid support player, but usually doesn't quite cut it as a lead. As for the billing and cooing over DiCaprio, Gosling, Depp, Pitt, Clooney etc., I feel that a corresponding groundswell of, er, support is merited for Jennifer Lawrence, ScarJo, Alexandra Daddario, Jessica Biel, Zoe Saldana, and multiple others. Fair's fair.

Ben Afleck will make a fine Batman. When it comes to the Dark Knight, you need only have two concerns--does the suit look cool, and will the director respect the material. As for Fleck's acting chops, check him at as 'Superman' George Reeves in HOLLYWOODLAND. Good flick.

I trust Zack Snyder. I think Superman/Batman looks killer. Definitely taking cues from Frank Miller's brilliant DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

Caught the remake of The Wicker Man, the one with Nick Cage. Meh. I liked the original much better. The idea that Goddess worshipers sacrificed anything in a wicker man is ridiculous; it was Druids who did so. And even they didn't sacrifice a human... after a time. There is a difference, something the makers of this movie obviously didn't know (or care to). If the movie had just been about the island and their sect, with no stupid connection to a wicker man (either the object or the original film) it may have been okay. As it is.... no.
