The Brainwashing of My Dad

Jen Senko, a documentary filmmaker, looks at the rise of right-wing media through the lens of her WWII vet father who changed from a life-long, nonpolitical Democrat to an angry, right-wing fanatic after his discovery of talk radio on a lengthened commute to work. In trying to understand how this happened, she not only finds this to be a phenomenon, but also uncovers some of the forces behind it: a plan by Roger Ailes under Nixon to create a media for the GOP; the Lewis Powell Memo, urging business leaders to influence institutions of public opinion - especially the universities - the media and the courts; and under Reagan, the dismantling of the Fairness Doctrine - all of which helped to change the entire country's direction and culture, misinformed millions, divided families and even the country itself.

Strongly recommend this.

Not a movie but some episodes of the original 'Twilight Zone' seasone one, plus some 'special features' on it including and episode of the 1960's American game show 'Liar's club' with Betty White, Richard Gautier(Hymie on Get Smart) and others. Also listened to an audio interview with Richard Matheson on the DVD as well. Also looked at the 'Twilight Zone' comic on the DVD. Also watched the movie
'Changing Lane' with Ben Affleck and Samuel Jackson, I didn't like the ending too mushy.

Also started to watch (about 20 minutes in) the movie 'Crazy in Alabama' with Melanie Griffith, I started watching it then got distracted so I have to start watching it again, i noticed some of the characters kept on saying 'On the contrary' or using the word 'contrary' often which have beeen something white Alabaman's used to say when the movie was set.

Stuart: A Life Backwards. Terribly funny at times, but horribly sad at others. This was made right before Bumpershot Cabbagepatch and Tom Hardy's careers exploded. The book upon which it was based is a biography of Stuart (Hardy), written by Alex (Cabbagepatch). Stuart is a mostly homeless alcoholic/smackhead, Alex is a worker at a local homeless shelter. Alex decides that it would be good to write Stuart's story, hoping to find keys to why Stuart was who and were he was, at 33. It's a joint venture between HBO and the BBC; had it been a regular movie, Hardy should have won an Oscar.

Damn, he's good.
