The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies (2014)- Well, I gotta say, I was disappointed in this movie. Being the last film of the trilogy (and maybe of the LOTR universe...for now), I was expecting more. My friend and I tried SO hard to like it, but we couldn't it...and that's what was so disappointing because we are fans of the LOTR and Hobbit series as a whole. The problems I had with it are there was this one character that was really annoying and I thought he had too much screen time, which was unnecessary. I thought he was useless and just thrown in the movie. Another thing is there were a lot of filter scenes that I felt really had no place in the movie. I felt there were continuity problems, too, where they would show one scene, then immediately leave it hanging and switch it to another. Sorry for the rant but that's my two scents lol;-D:a11:

What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Good movie, tugs at the heartstrings. My first viewing.
Ahhh, now you went and made me like you even more. This is a fantastic movie! I wish it had been seen by a wider audience when it was originally released. Leo was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his turn as 'Arnie', the mentally challenged kid.

I'm watching The Sand Lot. I love it.

That was one of my favorite movies as a kid!

Reign Of Fire - (2002) Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey

A pretty good monster movie. Fire breathing dragons have devastated the earth and a few remaining survivors are trying to stay alive. For the most part, this is a straight forward monster flick with no humor. The one humorous scene is a good one though. A hundred or so British survivors (the Christian Bale group) are visited by another group (Matthew M's group) of survivors that arrive in tanks. The British guys are watching the tanks roll up, not knowing who is inside. When McConaghey sticks his head out of the tank and asks who's in charge, one of the British guys says, "Great, the only thing worse than dragons are Americans." ;-D

I had no major problems with this movie except that if you have a major underground construction site in the middle of London, then you are not going to have a schoolboy wandering around and taking the lift down to the underground construction area, even if he is the fore(wo)man's son. Especially without a hard hat! And then you have one of supervisors saying to one of the workers who is volunteering to enter a newly discovered cavity, "You can't go in there - it's too dangerous!" just minutes after said supervisor has given the schoolboy a torch and sent him into that very opening! Preposterous, and took me right out of the film at the very start. Poor, poor screen writing.

Workplace safety is never a big priority in movies ;-D

Nebraska (2013)-This is the third film I've seen by Alexander Payne. Liked it better than Sideways, but not as much as The Descendants. I thought it was kind of a sad movie, but has great performances by Bruce Dern and June Squibb. I'm a fan of Will Forte, so it was nice to see him play a more dramatic role!
