Why are these types so obsessed with building lifelike robots in any case? It's not like we're perfect models of efficiency. Robots really should be built for the task/s we want them to do. And aren't there already enough things walking around that look just like us? Over 7bn and rising at the last estimate! Is that not enough? Do we need dodgy-looking robots too?
As for 'human AI'...why, for the love of Mike? We're walking bags of neuroses! But it's "Let's create an AI that thinks just like us, but is forced to use machine logic at the same time!"
Of course a reasonably intelligent machine is going to want to kill us. It's got no way to empathise, so you're just creating a sociopath that operates with perfect logic. Give it a problem like "There are homeless people/People with not enough to eat/Too many people in the world for the resources we have" and with cold machine logic it'll reach the obvious conclusion and have the means - physical and mental - to do it without hesitation or remorse.
The same goes for other 'disembodied' AIs. Create a truly sentient machine and, using machine logic, it'll examine the state of the world, conclude we are the problem since all our concerns would be addressed by our extinction (in the obvious 'worry no more' way as well as the equally obvious 'planet will heal' one).
Even the best-case scenario means we'd end up becoming the tools of our tools.
