I don't think much will top what we saw tonight for gross and disgusting. I'm just glad it was up to the trauma surgeon to remove it.
I have no idea how the man got that thing through his head, but it went straight through his eye.

I've seen grosser things than I've actually done. And most of them have included accidental or purposeful incidents of gun violence.
I've seen a patient with an ice pick hammered through his ear and coming out the other side of his face.

The number of gross incidents I encounter is unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder how I can stay so "logical" about these things. Some of the patients' families become visibly angry with us when we don't get "properly horrified" and show it to them.
One of them told me I was a terrible person because I wasn't showing him how upsetting it is.

I didn't do this (really, I didn't!) but this is the grossest thing a friend of mine ever did. Drunker than a pig, sees the flashing lights, poops and eats a handful so breathalyzer wouldn't work. He spent a few months in jail. Even he realized it was wrong, wrong, wrong and quit drinking. It was over 20 years ago and he hasn't had a drink since. Talk about hitting rock bottom.

In the book Thank You for Smoking by Christopher Buckley, he talks about eating fish tank charcoal to neutralize the alcohol. I don't recommend this and not sure it works. I just read it in a FICTION book so it just might be FICTION.

Checked for a pulse on a dead guy who had been out on a front porch overnight in the fall..it had been wet & cold that night, and his skin was cold and clammy like a freshly opened slab of bacon.. I screamed in mock horror and jumped back, and my boss almost broke his gut laughing at me..not really gross just kinda funny..

Well we have cats, and we live on a busy road, so that's probably all I need to say to sum it all up to be honest... That's what came to mind when reading the thread title..

I also want to say when I got the Wonderland DVD... Being a fan of true crime I just had to watch the crime scene walkthrough VIDEO and then look it up online for a clearer version... I have a strong stomach when it comes to that stuff, but that just creeped me out right away.. Pictures are one thing, but seeing a video is another.. That one actually got to me bigtime, and most things like that don't at all. I'm the kind of person who can eat while watching that stuff, but that was just eerie from the get go.

My dad gets some kind of boil on hid back every so often, and it gets pretty big if he lets it go on for awhile.. Years ago when I was probably around 17 or so, maybe 18, he talked me into "lancing" it for him. I didn't mind, like I said I have a strong stomach for that stuff, but I wasn't expecting the pus or whatever it was to shoot out all over my face... :( SICK!!!
