Congrats to all.Daughter got married today. Nothing changes - she and her guy were living together, and kids were blended. He's a good guy. The only real difference is now they qualify for a much higher-priced house.
In a charming move, they're both going to change their names to her and his family names, hyphenated.

...how wonderful Grandpa!...but, at their age-shouldn't they have already had their hyphens removed????......(BTW, The Stanley issue is resolved).....
Congratulations Grandpa!!!!! Congrats to the Newlyweds and their new officially blended family too. That is good news indeed. That last part was funny. You are a card. It's complicated. For one, the Stanley never re.... no. Never mind. Glad it's resolved!!!
And it's complicated. Their hyphens have long since.... no. Never mind. ANYWAY, she likes her family name and wants to keep it. Her kids like her family name and are probably going to change theirs when they hit the age when they can. And he likes her family name, doesn't want to completely ditch his own, and so they settled on a hyphen for each of them.
They were sitting at the counter at the courthouse, and they were telling the clerk what they wanted. I piped in, "I'm her father. This is me, walking her down the aisle." Daughter cracked up.
