I loved that bit myself. I read the first book and I am reading the second. I hope the characters continue.
Is the show sticking closely to the books?
I finished! Are 6 eps the whole season? Because they seemed very sure that they would get a second season, if that's where it ends! I think I need to read the books. I like it, particularly Matt Dillon. I don't see his acting so much wooden here as very controlled, and that fits with his background (what we know of it) and especially his training as a Secret Service agent.

The first book did, but with a slightly different direction.
I am a bit confused...Nothing new for the series. So, is Ethan trying to stop the bomb plot? I thought he wanted to get out of Wayward Pines. Plus, if his kid just walks it off..there is a problem.
After seeing the mountain and all the stuff after, he 'knows' that they can't leave--breaching the wall will let the bite animal people in (can't remember what they're called--lol). I'm still not convinced that this isn't some elaborate mind game. And, yeah, the kid. they were behind those bags of flour or whatever, so he might could have survived if the girl did (and she did).
This show is reminding me a bit of Hemlock Grove. Less graphic nasty 'old' people sex (lol) but the same type of pacing/narrative line. That show had a decent first season and an absolutely abysmal second, so I hope this one lays its cards out by the end of season 1.
I couldn't watch Hemlock. Tried. Just couldn't buy into it at all.
I liked the first season of Hemlock Grove.....barely tolerated the second.
Are they still planning a final third season, or has it been axed?
I think they gave up on the idea. The second season was so awful, until the last two episodes. Too little, too late to save the series, I'm afraid. The first season was weird, but the dynamic between the characters was interesting! I liked it, too.
I've had Hemlock Grove in my Netflix queue for quite awhile now. I enjoy Eli Roth's stuff but after reading the above comments I'm not sure if I want to waste my time on it.
I thought the last ep was kind of meh up until the end. I'm not entirely sure that what they're saying is happening is truly happening or if this really is some type of government experiment. Maybe he didn't really leave the walls of Wayward Pines so much as they made him think he did.
I still think it's a mind game. I keep going back to an early scene with the scientist meeting in the rain with Ethan's supervisor at the FBI after he had already arrived in Wayward Pines

I'm hanging with the series, but I have no idea where they can go with it. I haven't read the books, so I have no idea whether the new sheriff has been brainwashed or if the big reveal is the truth or not.
My daughter thinks that (as well as all the other Seattle scenes) are flashbacks. Maybe so.
Could be. My boyfriend also keeps reminding me that M. Night Shyamalan likes to add lots of twists and turns, so anything is still possible.....of course, he's not read the books either. (the BF, not Shyamalan)
