10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread?- Sometimes. I'm not that interested in talking about politics too much because my father used to rave on about America, how Nixon was a crook(my father didn't say much bad about Lyndon Johnson because he reckoned that was a Scandinavian name). He didn't say much about Jimmy Carter, but started raving on about Ronald Reagan. My father hated Reagan's guts. He liked Obama. He didn't like George Bush senior, or Junior. He liked Walter Mondale, because he came from Minnesota.

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)? 8

2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)? If it's a good dye, then I like it. Poorly done dye jobs for either sex are just sad.

3. Do you use throw away (disposable) or rechargeable batteries? both. We use the rechargeable kind with our Wii gaming system because that thing eats regular batteries like nobody's business. Use throw away for most everything else.

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked? I can think of worse.

5. Do you do your income taxes on time and if so do they owe you or do you usually owe them? Early. Usually have a refund check and get it before some folks have even filed.

6. Have you ever taken a parking or speeding ticket to court and won? I have talked my way out of a speeding ticket and have had a charge overturned in court (someone hit me and the responding officer gave me the ticket:rolleyes:).

7. Would you hire a maid service to clean your house if you could afford to? In a heart beat. At various times in my life, I have had cleaning people. I hate to dust more than anything in this world.

8. What was the last thing you cooked that you were proud of or turned out really good? I'm usually pleased with what I cook. Most recently, I have started making this very decadent, gooey mac'n cheese. Made it Sunday, so we'll go with that.

9. Have you considered buying or making Christmas gifts this year or is it too soon to ask? I make some and buy some, but I haven't started yet this year. Sometimes I am done before Thanksgiving, but usually I am still looking for/working on something right up til the day before.

10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread? I usually don't even read those threads. Occasionally a title will intrigue me and I may read a few, but stop once the vitriol begins.:blues:

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)? Probably 10 or so.

2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)? I'm cool with both. Mine is presently natural though I do color from time to time.

3. Do you use throw away (disposable) or rechargeable batteries? A combination. I use rechargeable batteries as much as possible.

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked? Seems like a non-question so, yes.

5. Do you do your income taxes on time and if so do they owe you or do you usually owe them? Always as early as possible so I can stop stressing about it. I used to get money back but we've owed or broken even for the last 5 years or so due to a change in income bracket.

6. Have you ever taken a parking or speeding ticket to court and won? Several times, actually.

7. Would you hire a maid service to clean your house if you could afford to? I do regularly though I fired my last one and haven;t replaced them yet.

8. What was the last thing you cooked that you were proud of or turned out really good? Ugh. I haven't made anything interesting in weeks due to this elimination diet I'm on so I can't really recall. I'm a great cook though!

9. Have you considered buying or making Christmas gifts this year or is it too soon to ask? It's way too soon. Not ready.

10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread? I don't think I have yet. I likely will at some point but I'm feeling a lot of burnout due to the inflammatory nature of pretty much everything associated with the current administration. I've been depressed, angry, and worried 24-7 since November. It's pretty exhausting.

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)?
5

2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)?
No preference. I like to cover up my grays but some of them are looking blond instead of gray, I do kind of like that.;-D

Disposable

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked?

Early and we usually get a refund...at least until kiddos are grown. ;)

Only one speeding ticket and I didn't fight it. I wanted to, I was clocked in a 45 zone going 45 and then they stopped me in a 25 zone. I was not speeding. But, I had a friend who's dad was a police officer, and he advised me not even to try fighting it, the radar gun ruled all.

Maybe for some things, but probably not.

Weekly Survey September 3rd/4th to September 10th

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)? 11 (i think). went through a period of several months where i lost a vehicle and several folks floated me their hand me downs . . . none of them really worked out, eventually bought my next on my own, so my total is a bit inflated.

2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)? depends on the person really. some people pull it off better than others. i knew a guy once upon a time who had the brightest of blue hair, and he looked hot.

3. Do you use throw away (disposable) or rechargeable batteries? mostly disposable

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked? given time, someone will always outdo

5. Do you do your income taxes on time and if so do they owe you or do you usually owe them? usually ASAP, because they usually owe me, although the year before last it was very close, due to my pay. being in a tax bracket high enough to owe is a dream/dread (the mild dread only because i don't know how much i'd end up owing, and bills always suck)

6. Have you ever taken a parking or speeding ticket to court and won? no

7. Would you hire a maid service to clean your house if you could afford to? definitely

8. What was the last thing you cooked that you were proud of or turned out really good? i haven't really done much experimenting with super complicated stuff in the kitchen, so nothing really comes to mind. i usually make adequate dishes, not amazing ones.

9. Have you considered buying or making Christmas gifts this year or is it too soon to ask? bought a couple already here and there.

10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread? like might be a strong word lol. i do like being informed, and engaging in discussion can be a good way to do so, but some folks make it harder than others to respond in a reasonable fashion

Heart of the South
Survey for week of 8-29-17

1. "If you could get rid of one state in the U.S., which would it be and why?"
The current "state of mind" of POTUS.

2. "What do you think about when you are alone in your car?"
I do my very best to clear my mind, and sing and dance my way around. Preferably BeeGees or Abba - I dance best to Disco.

3. "What song best describes your work ethic?"
Working for the Weekend (but that doesn't mean I'm a Loverboy fan, not at all)

4. "Have you ever stolen a pen from work?"
Never intentionally

5. "A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?"

I don't know but he's cute.

6. "How would you rate your memory?"
Long term memories are still strong; short term is shot.

7. "What kitchen utensil would you be?"
I think I would be the multi-tasking wooden spoon.

8. "How many quarters would you need to reach the height of the Empire State building?"
136 or $34 to take the elevator all the way up

9. "How do you make a tuna sandwich?"
I make really good tuna fish: canned tuna (not albacore!), a little garlic salt, a little rotel tomatoes and peppers, some diced kosher dill pickles, a couple dollops of mayo (Hellmans), a couple dollops of sour cream. Mix well, eat with chips - no bread

10. "What would you choose as your last meal?"
Broiled garlic pork chops, French onion soup, crème brulee

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)? 10, IIRC. First was a 1967 Dodge Dart when I was 16. Latest is a 2002 Subaru Outback we inherited from B's Mom.

2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)? Whatever they want to do. It's only hair, it will grow out. K dyed the front of her hair blue in Jr. High. Looked really cool. It's all back to brown now.

3. Do you use throw away (disposable) or rechargeable batteries? Depends on the use.

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked? No.

5. Do you do your income taxes on time and if so do they owe you or do you usually owe them? We *try* to get them done by the end of March. We've only owed once.

6. Have you ever taken a parking or speeding ticket to court and won? Yes and yes.

7. Would you hire a maid service to clean your house if you could afford to? Absolutely!

8. What was the last thing you cooked that you were proud of or turned out really good? A casserole made with white meat chicken, portabello mushroom egg noodles, Alfredo sauce and fresh basil. Going to make it again tonight with a fresh tomato & basil salad on the side (tomatoes from the garden - yum!)

9. Have you considered buying or making Christmas gifts this year or is it too soon to ask? I have a few ideas.

10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread? Yes. I consider myself to be quite well-informed about politics. I follow various sources and try to keep an open mind. But my BS detector is set to high and I will call out any that I see here or anywhere.

So I guess technically I really should answer my own questions? :ambivalence::umm:

Weekly Survey September 3rd/4th to September 10th

1. How many vehicles have you owned in your life (if you drive)?
Hmmm - let's see
  • - first one was a dark green Plymouth Volare - a '77 that I got in '84.
  • Then an 87 Pontiac Sunbird
  • an 89 Dodge Ram D100 6 cylinder truck (very basic)
  • a 97 Jeep Cherokee in metallic green that I got in 2003
  • and finally a Jeep Liberty (an 'oh seven' that I got in 2013 :m_cruise:
2. Which do you prefer - dyed hair or au natural (for both guys and/or girls)?
For myself, I am still covering up the grey roots but as it is getting lighter and looking more blonde I may eventually quit

3. Do you use throw away (disposable) or rechargeable batteries?
I just use disposable. Used to have a recharger but my son put nonrechargables in there by accident and wrote it off.

4. Is # 4 the most boring question you've ever been asked?
:m_thinking:

5. Do you do your income taxes on time and if so do they owe you or do you usually owe them?
Well it's funny you should ask :m_snicker:
I just got them done at H&R Block on September 5th, which was dumb because they owed me money (I ask them to take an extra 100 bucks off every month anyway, so I will be able to get a good refund once a year).

6. Have you ever taken a parking or speeding ticket to court and won?
Yes - twice for speeding tickets - once the judge let me off completely and the second time they reduced the fine.

7. Would you hire a maid service to clean your house if you could afford to?
I've been thinking of getting Molly Maid to come in but haven't made up my mind yet.
(Sorry DiO'Bolic - they don't wear the French Maid costumes)

ThumbHandler.ashx

8. What was the last thing you cooked that you were proud of or turned out really good?
I like to bring squares in to work on a Friday if I am scheduled to work day shift. I made one with dark chocolate, cherries etc. that was not too sweet and most people enjoyed it.

9. Have you considered buying or making Christmas gifts this year or is it too soon to ask?
It is a bit soon but I think I better start planning ahead. I need to ask my son and his GF what they would like. No idea what to buy Andy (maybe something culinary?) or another cowboy type belt buckle.

10. Do you like to post in the Politics thread?
God no - I don't like to even enter that area (think I have a couple of them on "Ignore").

p.s. Any volunteers for next week?

That sounds good - thank you for volunteering :grinning::encouragement:

p.s. I will be on the lookout for you now every time I see a Jeep Liberty - BTW mine is a sort of boring greyish tan colour with a sunroof, this plastic sort of "bra-thing" on the front and I have Veteran plates. If you see me, don't forget to honk or wave!
