Busy day with the 4th graders :) I got to watch them iFly, rock climb, and body surf. Before I went back to the school, I got my hair cut; shorter than I planned, but I think I like it! And I got on the sub list for my son's school for next year, so if the librarian thing doesn't work out there's still an option to make a little bank. The Man is making dinner. All in all, a good day :)

I did find out that our (redacted) new mail carrier hasn't been delivering our mail when we got two late notices for utilities today--both noted that bills were returned as undeliverable. As we've lived here for the last 23 years, that's a no go. Paid now, of course, but what a (REDACTED). I can't help it if horrible inconsiderate people from the schools near us park in front of our box, FFS. *deep breaths* *serenity now*

I finished editing a story i wrote many years ago about my school years. Tough emotionally to read what the 21 year old me wrote. But I think k it actually still works as a story. Glad that it is preserved now in a digital way, both in a wordfile and as a pdf. I even made the extra work to select a picture to go on the front.

Go to St. Vincent De Paul, have something to eat at shop, go to library, read something, have a 'No. 1' haircut, have a shower, go to the club for a few and watch the some League on Fox, listen to the football on the radio later on, maybe look at movie about 9.

I did all the things. There are 3 full time people where I work. Two were on vacation this week. I kicked @$$. Even had to take a kid to the doctors, argue with the not-Ogre. Do you know - somehow I managed to allow both living at home kids to be gone the entire weekend - different places, different things. So here sit with you fine people whilst he and the dogs snooze. We know how to party around here!

Spending time with a cancerous friend who is almost at the clearing at the end of his path. Will return tomorrow unless...:cold:
There's peace in the clearing. You're a good friend. I hope at the end of my days someone will sit with me and tell me stories about good times.

Oh, he knows where we are. He just refuses to work around the jerks that park in front of the box. We already got a ruling from the postmaster that the delivery person can't refuse to deliver for this reason (as we have no control over the ones who park there), but apparently the new guy didn't get the memo. I was steaming when I got home and got mail for the first time in a week, only to find out that that (very bad word) had been returning our mail as undeliverable. I have some choice words for both him and the postmaster on Monday--lol.

Opened all the windows in the house because it's nice and breezy here this morning. Heard a loud crash. The spastic RubyJune had busted out of the screen chasing squirrels in the front yard - FEK! She's not the kind of dog you want running loose - menacing bark - terrifies the neighborhood. The Ogre (yes) comes down the stairs and says loudly "I know you didn't just do that Ruby", she slinks back in through the window and goes to hide.
No kids in the house. It's going to be a weird weekend. I miss them being little. Saturday mornings they'd sit at the bar and watch me make their pancakies - asking me to put all sorts of things in them. They were so cute.
I'm guessing it's yardwork around here today. Then we're going to a Trivia Night - that should be fun. It's "bring your own cooler". We're sticking with beer. Much safer that way.
Hey - the World Champion BBQ Competition is going down here today! You can smell the pork long before you get down to the river. It's only fun if you are on a team or good enough friends with them to sit in the tent and party. Haven't done it in years but Lawd! the ribs and bbq!

It can be hard to look at your personal past. Much easier to spit it out bits and pieces (and a few scenes and images) in fiction. I admire your courage, Kurben.

Hoping today is better than yesterday.
I was minutes away from heading out the door, when I hear a strange sound, turned around and saw water shooting from the top of the closed utility closet door (right off kitchen/dining room).
A pipe broke and sprayed 40 gallons of hot water everywhere.
We had 2 dry towels (the place I was heading out the door to was the laundromat) so I had to use comforters to try to soak up some of the water. Hubby fixed the pipe easily, but what a mess.
Then, hours later, because God forbid we only have one catastrophe per day, a leak sprung on a different pipe that was banged into in our attempt to stop the first problem.
Though this leak was much slower, the problem was much more difficult to fix. And we didn't have the parts for the job (the local hardware store had closed 7 minutes before we noticed the leak).
We could've called a plumber and been charged an insane amount for an emergency repair, but instead chose to turn off all water overnight (and buy several gallons of water for drinking/flushing) and the man of the house went to the store first thing today and had it fixed before most people are out of bed on a Saturday morning.
All is good so far, but not trying to jinx it.
