Hoping today is better than yesterday.
I was minutes away from heading out the door, when I hear a strange sound, turned around and saw water shooting from the top of the closed utility closet door (right off kitchen/dining room).
A pipe broke and sprayed 40 gallons of hot water everywhere.
We had 2 dry towels (the place I was heading out the door to was the laundromat) so I had to use comforters to try to soak up some of the water. Hubby fixed the pipe easily, but what a mess.
Then, hours later, because God forbid we only have one catastrophe per day, a leak sprung on a different pipe that was banged into in our attempt to stop the first problem.
Though this leak was much slower, the problem was much more difficult to fix. And we didn't have the parts for the job (the local hardware store had closed 7 minutes before we noticed the leak).
We could've called a plumber and been charged an insane amount for an emergency repair, but instead chose to turn off all water overnight (and buy several gallons of water for drinking/flushing) and the man of the house went to the store first thing today and had it fixed before most people are out of bed on a Saturday morning.
All is good so far, but not trying to jinx it.
Oh God! Days be like that. Momma told me there would be. Our hot water heater sprung a leak once - where we live, the hot water heaters live in the attic. I don't know how many gallons of hot water poured through the walls, ceilings, floors. Home insurance is a good thing. $10,000 and 6 months of restoration. Horrible thing.

I went to church. My church is on Saturdays for some reason.
Are you Catholic? Vigil Mass on Saturday. Many masses all weekend long.

So the Ogre is down with his back. He has to stay on his feet all day long - sitting kills him (scheduled for an injection on the 23rd - so far away when you're in pain). So by the time Trivia night rolled around, he was whipped. I went by myself. My team placed second! Big brains we are. I won a door prize of a waffle iron. Tis Ka. I've been longing for one but refusing to buy it for myself. I'm making waffles in a few. No kids here to eat them. I think I'll make some with cake mix. And our table won $100, but we gave it back to the folks who organized it - it was a fundraiser. I had a great time!

Today: teaching CGS, cutting grass (only got the flower beds weeded yesterday), Mass at 5pm, grilling at 7pm, Penny Dreadful at 9pm.

Yeah, if the pipe had broken a few minutes later, no one would've been home to shut off the valve and the water would've been spraying for almost 2 hours. Definitely would've been an ins. claim there.

Holly - best waffles are made with the recipe where you separate the eggs, beat the whites and then fold them into the batter - it makes them nice and crispy!

I just had to go make a batch now - they are so light and fluffy - mmmmmm mmmmmmmm good

The recipe is from my Canadian Cookbook that was popular in high school Home Economics - it is my go-to cook book.

Making a replica of the envelope of the mercedes killer letter to Hodges, will use it as a background props because i will join a book selfie contest and their theme was : your favorite book (and yup, Mr. Mercedes is my chosen and favorite one)

Ps. I used the book description of the envelope itself so i hope i get it right.
Pps. The envelope only was replicated, not the letter of the mercedes killer itself.
Ppps. I hope i win, the weekly prize attract me to join the contest.

Pppps. Everything in my last post was still in my mind, because i'm still in doubt to join the contest since i saw some other entries in the bookselfie contest so beautiful and their props was well-made.
So the envelope replica is still in my mind progress if i will do it or nah or switch in other background option in my plan sheet or join at the contest or back-out at the contest, i need a deeper meditation lol.

(BTW, the book was also needed in pic so if i would join, i really need to changed the plastic cover of my hardbound of Mr. Mercedes so it will look neat lol)

I took half a day off work to take my sick dog to the vet. She woke me up panting at 2am and I spent the rest of the night trying to get her settled and back to sleep. She's diabetic and elderly. Many dollars and hours later, we're still not sure. Blood tests sent off. At least we got some antibiotics in case it is a UTI, very common in diabetic dogs. We'll see how it goes. I'm too tired now. No sleep last night. Need to figure dinner out. Frozen burritos? Corn on the cob? PBJ? I need to go to bed now.

Trying to be positive. The Man was up sick all night, so he's home. LilMan was illish this morning, so he's home. #1 son works nights, so he's home for another half hour or so. #1 daughter has a day off, so she's home. And all of them want something that has nothing to do with the chores I had planned for today.

Oh no! I hope you don't have the dreaded stomach virus in your house. :doc::blarf::bad_smelly:
So do I! I suspect The Man food poisoned himself with some pickled ginger he made a couple of weeks ago (he thinks that's it, too, because he's the only one who ate it last night). LilMan...who knows? He feels better now. I'm monitoring the situation for the rest. I'm SOOOO bad with throw up. Mark usually has to clean it up if someone doesn't make it to the bathroom, because I might just join them in the puke party. When the kids were little, he'd handle the bedroom mess and I'd whisk the sick child off to the shower.
