That's how I felt about Gone Girl. First 2/3 was great, last third was not so much.

I have made a detour in my reading. Last evening i suddenly felt nostalgic. So i picked up one of my childbooks that i have left, in this case Biggles in the South Seas by W.E. Johns and went fighting octupusses, sharks, pirates and hurricanes in a frantic tempo. Thats the reason i've kept a sample of these books, some times i feel nostalgic and a little childish and don't want to think so much, if at all.
Is Prey the one with nanothingies that get collectively mean and take over a human. Some researchlab in the desert was the scene i remember. Agree about Gone girl btw.
I am almost finished with my first Greg Iles book. The Quiet Game. Boy am I impressed! Great story so far

I actually decided to reread Different Seasons, then I'm probably going to read Roadwork. After that? Who knows.

by Iceberg Slim.

I'm reading Lolita. What a disturbing, beautifully written book...I am disgusted and amazed at the same time.
Lolita is the best-written book I've ever read.
I have read Lightning by Koontz for the first time. quite good. Perhaps his best book. I tried another of his awhile back, Mr. Murder it was called that i found rather boring.
Try The Bad Place, False Memory, The Taking, and Midnight.

Sole Survivor's good, too. I've heard good things about a couple of others which I haven't read, I think the titles are Watchers and Strangers.
I have found this in all of Mr. Crichton's books that I have read, the ends just kind of peter out.
