I'm only 30 pages in, but so far, so good.
I haven't watched the series, so I'm going to do what I've done with Game of Thrones. Read a book, watch the season etc. I'll let you know how I get on.
Finished "Rita Hatworth & The Shawshank Redemption" yesterday while waiting in the doctor's office. I'm about halfway through "Apt Pupil" now!
As I understand it, the books compliment the show, but there is very little overlap. You'd probably be okay to watch the show simultaneously.

That book was probably one of my biggest disappointments in reading when it came out, because the beginning was so damned GOOD, and the end so... bleh.

I am reading, Pimp: The Story of My Life
by Iceberg Slim.
Oh Gawd . . .. . .I like it . . .and it is about his childhood and his life as a pimp. There's lots of slang and mean people but remarkably the writing isn't that bad.
I can't believe how much I am enjoying this book. It is so raw and really tells in great details how to pimp a whore! There are more books by him and I think I'm going to read them. It really is a skanky read . . .but I'm liking it . . .
