The woods are lovely dark and deep
Even though i liked the american movie i must say that the part of the girl vampire was much better in the swedish version. But i still think that Let the right one in is his best book. It is not just the vampire but also the effective way to describe a suburb to Stockholm (We actually lived there for two years when i was a little kid, at the suburb that is visited in the novel i mean) that really is good. Have you read the short story sequel to Let The Right one In?
You guys are in for a wonderful treat with McCammon! He is one of my top favorite authors! They Thirst is one epic vampire novel and, if it hadn't of been for King publishing The Stand first, McCammon's Swan Song would be hailed as THE best post-apocalypse novels ever. His novel Mine is one of the most terrifying thrillers I've read.
Don't forget his Matthew Corbett (there are five more to come) series and his new novella series I Walk the Night, the second one is due out this spring I think. McCammon is an author no real reader should pass by.

I got hold of Swan song, Wolfs hour and Boy's Life to very good prices. Then i had to pay a bit for They thirst but i wanted myself an epic vampire novel. Do you think they are a good selection?

AWESOME!! You are off to a great start. All three of those are wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I envy you your new experience. When done with these, seek out all of McCammon's works, you will not be disappointed.

I caught the movie adaptation of this book the other night. It was the Swedish version with English dialogue dubbed over. One of the stranger movies I've seen in a while. It was very good.

FINISHED Natchez Burning and I have just found out it is the first in a trilogy! Yea Yea Yea. AWESOME book, HIGHLY recommend.

Now it's on to A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
Natchez Burning, Kindle version, is only $1.99 today on Amazon. I downloaded it immediately due to all the great recommendations here; plus, I've read many of Iles's other books and have loved all of them. Couple of questions: I have Iles's Devil's Punchbowl, but have never read it. Is it good?
Also, my Kindle Fire updated automatically a couple of weeks ago, and now the dictionary feature doesn't work. Previously, I could highlight a word while reading, and its definition would pop up. I've tried looking it up online and on Amazon's help section, but no luck. Can any of you kind friends enlighten me?

You are off to a wonderful start in the McCammon world, my friend! Swan Song is my favorite novel of his- it's similar to The Stand but with more 'heart', if you will. ENJOY!

Is the dictionary feature not working on just the one book Danie, or any book at all?

Hi, Ghost,
The dictionary won't work on any book. On the Kindle, you can group books into "collections," and after the update, the two dictionaries I had in my "Reference" collection just disappeared. When I highlight a word now, a Wikipedia entry will come up, if available, but no dictionary entry.

Browser cache maybe? If I remember correctly, a 15 or 20 second hold down on the power on button while the Kindle is turned on does a soft reset. You won't lose any files, it just sets a few settings back to default.
