I finished End of Watch. Thoroughly enjoyed it and give the trilogy a solid B+. As for the ending...

I think it was perfect. SK could have gone in so many directions and he chose the one that put a real ending on this story. (I was afraid he was going to have Brady jump into Holly and then force Bill to kill her in order to kill Brady.) I for one like that this particular 3-part story is ended. Whether he picks up with Pete and Holly is to be seen, but Brady is done.

Or is he? Remember, there's still lots of those Zappitt's out there.......

I thought he had to jump from one living person into another. I thought the Zappit was just the device he used to control the others. Oh well. It's over as far as I am concerned. I'd be disappointed if SK brought him back. I hate constantly resurrected "dead" characters.

Polished off my long awaited re-read of Night Shift. Man, those old tales are still just as tasty as ever. Now lookin to re-read Rice's The Witching Hour, see if it's as good as I remember. I recall loving that first Mayfair book, digging about two thirds of the second, but by the third...ugh, she just lost her way with the stuff. I think, once we found out what Lasher really was, and start to delve into his boring history, it just kinda falls apart. That first one, though...

I agree about the last third of The Witching Hour.

EVERYTHING Anne Rice writes falls apart after the sequel. She really needs to stay away from series and just do one or two books with the same characters and be done. I guess this advice comes too late now in her career though.

I finally broke down and started reading Let the Right One In. I have avoided this one for a long time for two reasons. One, I'm not a fan of reading translations. I just can't put aside the fact that what I am reading is not really what the author wrote. Second, I am usually disappointed by popular books. That said, I read a sample on my Kindle and really liked it, so I downloaded the whole book and so far so good. I'm a sucker for books about bullied kids, so it drew me in from the start.

I avoid translations like the plague but LTROI was done exceptionally well!! 'Tis a story not to be missed.

I hope this is not true of her Wolf Gift series. Every word of the first two books were lean and lush. Really wish she would get on with it!! Leave Lestat be.

Lest The Darkness Fall by L. Sprague de Camp. About an history interested guy who travel to Rome to visit a dig and there fall through a hole in time. He reappears in Rome in the year 535. The Goths are now masters over Italy. Rather amusing thoughtexperiment. It is considered a classic in the timetravel genre.

I saw the American re-make of the movie and then I just HAD to get the book! You're really going to like it! I am a big Lindqvist fan now!
