Oh wow! Hey go big or go home! You won the jackpot nottie!
I'm curious to hear what all you have to do.

Should have bought a lottery ticket on the way back. I was too freaked.

I'll let you know, Hollies. I will know Wednesday, but spoke to someone today who had the same job (?) in the same county. Cripes. Because public speaking and with people looking at me is the most very bestest thing I am good at. Noos. Nope. Gans!

It should be interesting, to say the least.

Hear there is gonna be bagels, so that's something to get me there.

And to your last post, mayhap make a strawberry pie to bring in ??

I bet you rock it. Wear your power clothes. Sassy shoes. Practice power stance - like in the TED talk. Free bagels - yay! Do they pay for your parking? One day a week is not horrible. I cringe at the things you might have to hear. The horrible stuff people do. Having to see the alleged criminals and their victims. Ish.

My pie - I can't find a picture online or I'd show you. Frozen deep dish pie crust - let it thaw slightly and gently pat chopped pecans into the bottom of the crust. Bake.

Mix sugar, cream cheese and cool whip until fluffy and smooth and delicious. Fold into cooled crust. Pour a can of cherries over the top and chill (chill the pie in the fridge for 2 hours, you go chill in the tub with some wine). I bet you could do this with strawberries or blueberries and whatever you like best. So easy and so good.

I'll do a power stance, if someone is going after my bagel. Parking is free, the big courthouse is only a mile away. ( I didn't even know all that was back there) They said 'casual clothes' jeans and tees, do ya.

No seeing of victims. Just hearing about it, voting if some other jury has to see and hear all that, or there was no crime committed. Good. I would not be comfortable deciding a fate.

My vote does not count anyway. heh. Unless there is a tie and I have to break it.
cuz, I'm now powerful like that. :upside:

I hope Neesy had better results from the Jury Duty selection than I did today. Things went even beyond the worst I feared. :upside:
No no nadine

I was just getting into my story (Rage from the Bachman books) when they called my number - luckily it was the end of the day and they already had 12 so if I had been chosen I would have just been an alternate anyway

So tell us - how did YOUR day go? :cool2::love:

Didn't have to work last night, had a nice dinner with Teddy and Doodles, celebrated our 3rd anniversary.... I know, can you believe it!!!! Just cuddling with Teddy now, reading all these words of wit, wisdom and silliness...
Wow - three years! How time flies when you're having fun

Yes, I was selected. They picked the first 23, I was not chosen. Then they were given a chance to get out of it. And more names called after they were dismissed.

My name was called for the last seat in the box. One more seat left!

I barely sat down, when the judge dismissed everyone else. And said, "We have our Grand Jury." Suddenly standing up with jury pledge, oath.
I didn't know if I should place hand over my heart or what.

THEN. The judge said it was time for appointments. Someone shook a box and my seat number was chosen to be the Foreperson for the Grand Jury. I was still trying to get over that I was there and picked.

Which means I have to sit up there, and give oaths, sign off on. Sit at the big table above everyone else. I have to go early to see what my duties are.

This worked out. :hopelessness:
Cool!

I am sure you will do an excellent job!

I got out of it by the skin of my teeth but if they had chosen me I would have tried to be impartial and just listen to all the evidence.

There is a part where you stand up (here in Canada anyway). They say "look at the accused" then "accused, look at the juror" - obviously there was something on my face that made the Crown Attorney say "challenge"

They have two choices - they can say content or say challenge

Oh well - maybe they wanted another man rather than a woman - who knows?

Just glad I got out of there before 5 p.m. - it was 11 bucks just for parking!

Yup. Getting to be that time of year for me too, Sundrop -Nov 10th, then my dad on the 17th. (((hugs forever)))

Straightened up the front living room, did a little grocery shopping, made a liquor store run, and bought a chair for the now straightened living room :) A new Habitat for Humanity Re-Store opened up here today--GREAT stuff! We're going to be keeping an eye out for a cabinet for the kitchen, too. Now I have to speed read the latest Bridget Jones book--it just arrived today, and the pub date was the 11th of this month. I wasn't sure if my editor would still want a review, but he does, so into the drink I go! Our houseguest leaves tomorrow morning, but we won't see much of him before that--the kids went for the ritual Introduction to Grandma (lol), then hiking and out to dinner. Tonight they're going to Rocky Horror. It's gone very well! I suspect that the've discovered that they're more buddies than boyfriend/girlfriend, but I won't get the DL until after he leaves--HAHA!

I'm sorry Sundrop.

It's strange. I could not tell you the day, or year my parents went to the clearing. Or friends.
I should know this. I don't think of it. - Not because it did not devastate me, it did.
And I am shocked when I find out how long it has been.

Keep thinking mom's gonna call. Guess I blocked it.

Now crying. bah. I do remember all their birthdays as soon as I wake.

Sounds like a really great time for all :) let us know if the latest Bridget Jones book is as good as the previous ones, please
