Yes, I was selected. They picked the first 23, I was not chosen. Then they were given a chance to get out of it. And more names called after they were dismissed.

My name was called for the last seat in the box. One more seat left!

I barely sat down, when the judge dismissed everyone else. And said, "We have our Grand Jury." Suddenly standing up with jury pledge, oath.
I didn't know if I should place hand over my heart or what.

THEN. The judge said it was time for appointments. Someone shook a box and my seat number was chosen to be the Foreperson for the Grand Jury. I was still trying to get over that I was there and picked.

Which means I have to sit up there, and give oaths, sign off on. Sit at the big table above everyone else. I have to go early to see what my duties are.

This worked out. :hopelessness:

You were able to make the doldrums of being picked for jury duty sound as intense as being selected for the Hunger Games. :biggrin-new:

LOL...."AND MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!"....That's about the worst outcome to possible jury duty I can ever remember hearing about NN... I don't know, being the Foreperson might be kind of interesting...

Every Wednesday. I will be there. We were told there will be bagels an cream cheese and we are welcome to bring baked goods.

Cuz nothin goes better for a day of listening to 30 drug or murder cases then a bellyfull of treats, I figure. ? They said they would take it easy at first with the cases, and lucky it's safe area, so not too many. Then get into the really bad stuff that happens. By then, they say we will all be friends forever and keep in touch. Ok.

Whoos. Only me.

ghost19 will know, I am sure he's testified there once or twice or more.
Yah, roommate got off lucky ... I had a last thought that what if he is here too? Scanned the room.

replaced eight windows in a camp on singing sands road. job isn't finished, eight new windows in the hole, foamed the edges, the old were taken apart all extruded aluminum and glass. have four more to do tomorrow and then trim out the inside, clean the glass and vinyl, seal the inside edge with some quad caulking...and then wrap the existing wood on the exterior with grecian green aluminum. probably take two days to do that part of it. truck is full of aluminum, glass, other debris. need to empty that out, go down to the shop and put another coat of paint on the trim so it'll be ready for tomorrow...tomorrow, there's always tomorrow. plus...i'm reading a book. mark it on the calendar. celebrate the day with me when i complete this mission. sounds like everyone is busy with an assortment of tasks. i hear the furnace running. time to shimmie shimmie coco pop.

forgot to tell you that yesterday while installing windows we had a hog visitation. yeah, i'm on the scaffolding outside the living room windows, just getting started, i have adam down at ground level tending to things and i notice him jerk back. two-hundred pound hog is standing there by the corner of the scaffold, grunting, wagging its curly little tail. awe! look at the cute little hog! then...another one comes running over. isn't that just like hogs. one sees the other being petted and muscles in on the action. we had various tools and accessories lying about and the hog was trying to make off with something, souvenir I imagine, something to tell the three little pigs. while hog one (not sure if this was "pork" or "beans" as they are called) is snuffling vacuum cleaner wands and adam is scolding the curious but greedy hog, i turned back to the window at hand. over 25 years in business and have never had a hog visitation. a first. mark it on the calendar.

unloaded the truck this morning. get back in the house and my wife, sacked out on the couch since her surgery says, i coulda died in here you were gone to long. yeah, 'bout an hour it took, filled a large plastic garbage can with what felt like about 40-50 pounds of extruded aluminum. i think all the glass weighed more. loaded the truck with other stuff once i had it empty, the siding break, saw benches, miter-box stand and miter-box, the trim i painted last night, shrink-wrapped, couple rolls of aluminum coil, have the batteries for the trim nailers charging, those and the cell phone battery. the cold seems to sap the batteries, hey? and...it's still dark. won't start getting light 'til half-past eight or so. days are getting shorter and if work lets up i'm sure the mods will be happy to know they'll see more of the oobleck.
until then..."the oobleck is gone! the oobleck is gone!" (to work work work)

I had a most productive day. Which fizzled into do nothing Friday. I elbowed my way into a Saturday off. You'd think that would be a given, right? But no. I had to be bossy. I hate being bossy. It makes me feel mean, but meh. Got me a Saturday off. All day. Am turning off the phone even. I'm going to thrift and make a pie. Miss Mary's Cherry Pie. Tomorrow. Tonight I just sit. Sometime I read, sometimes I watch the Ogre watch baseball. I've been pinning again. Ho hum. Tomorrow will be an exciting day I think. I got some mums and pansies to plant too.
