Because this board is dedicated to the works of horror master Stephen King; I guess everyone on this forum must have some kind of fascination for horror or the unknown in general. You have probably read a lot of works in this genre, and there are lots of different forms of horror and the like.
But what does really scare you? What kind of ideas/themes and the like do really terrify you to the bone and push your mind to areas where you won't dare to close your eyes at night? I know the range of fears can be very broad since everyone has it's own fears, but it does not have to be something realistic per se, just the idea of something can be bad enough (thats why horror exists right? :D)

I will kick off myself:

1- Getting lost in a place that is totally desolated of light, like a cave or a catacomb. Just wandering and wandering without any hope and slowly becoming insane before eventually starving.

2- Being stalked by something that just keeps getting you in trouble and driving tyou insane, but there is nobody to believe you.

3- Sounds at places where they totally do not belong, for (a simple) example: footsteps in your house while you are (supposed to be) alone.

The Future
1. Hell (not that I'm bound for there).
2. The Federal government.
3. Finances (Dad was an expert at saving money while sucking at teaching his kids about it. His tone seemed, "If you don't save your money you'll end up begging in the street from people who did save their money and you'll die freezing painfully and horribly, watching your hands then your arms wither then turn black and fall off.)
4. Disease; I'm no longer invincible. (I miss those days.)
5. The Brainwashed and other lunatics.

Losing my faculties and being a burden to others.

Being restrained. I mean, physically, imprisonment-style, restrained. You know how some folks take, um, pleasure in being handcuffed or tied? That's fine for them. Completely not me. Not enough alcohol in the world for that. Oh, it's a matter of trust? Fine. I don't trust you. Next idea.

Sorry, I got distracted.

For real... Heights. Although I have no fear of flying in an airplane. Go figure!
When you think about it it's probably not really the height that is the fear, it's falling and what happens on the landing if you do. In an airplane you're surrounded and should feel less likely to fall out of it. Just like in an elevator, you can be pretty high but the chances you're going to fall out of that are pretty slim.

I remember reading somewhere that the two fears with which humans are born are a fear of falling and a fear of spiders. I wonder if that's true?
