I believe you’re correct. I have no problem being in a tall building (even one built by Trump ;)) and not be afraid. But I can’t be near an open window in one, or on a balcony or roof.

My mom was like that. In a car, a plane, she was just fine. But out in the open, anywhere close to a dropoff, she'd start to get paralyzed. She couldn't get more than two boards up a stepladder without feeling panicky.

I don't mind spider, snakes, bats, slugs, mice, and other things that seem to give people the heebies. I like the dark. And being by myself.

Like FDR said (paraphrased), "Eschew phobophobia." Or something like that.

I once was in a business meeting where the head honcho’s decided to have the meeting on a hotel balcony, about 30 stories up. I had to set up my chair in the room and conduct business through the screen door. They made fun of me the whole meeting.

For real... Heights. Although I have no fear of flying in an airplane. Go figure!

When you think about it it's probably not really the height that is the fear, it's falling and what happens on the landing if you do. In an airplane you're surrounded and should feel less likely to fall out of it. Just like in an elevator, you can be pretty high but the chances you're going to fall out of that are pretty slim.

Maybe y'all can figure out what my problem is. :p

I don't have a problem with flying, climbing, roofs, ledges, roller coasters, heights etc., except ...

On an amusement park ride (can't remember which ride) a elevator takes a small group of people up, maybe ten stories. You are supposed to get off at the top to ...I don't remember. Slide down? Anyway, there was a small gap between the elevator we were on and the platform we walk onto. I don't think it was much larger than an inch gap. It was big enough that I could see straight down to the ground below, though. That was enough for me and I balked. I wouldn't cross it. My husband and brother chuckled and offered to hold on to me as I *crossed* the gap but

Cognitively, I knew I was okay and safe but I think my reptilian brain told me "No! Danger." ( My brother suggested it was my cow brain telling me No! Think cow guard)

  ;;D

Have a great evening.

TL;DR

I'm afraid of visual cliffs.

Granda freaked out the same way when we crossed the wooden bridge over Royal Gorge. The Eldest and I got down and peered through the holes in the board and the gaps in the slats to the river 50,000 feet (more or less) below.

Here's my proof of non-fear of heights, 30 seconds before I jumped off.

I'm scared that there is something going on in the world that is being masked/hidden in the Western world by the Kardashian Entertainment Conglomerate et. al., and I also fear the prevalence of Philanthropy Incorporated middle-man charities popping up all over the place (maybe this is nothing more than a side-effect of people leaving the church in droves). Oh...and I'm scared of widths.

:disgust: :barf:Nope. (Really. Just thinking about it makes me anxious. )

Wayyyy cool! (I think I could bungee jump or parachute. I've always wanted to, anyway. Being fitted to bungee chord/parachute and ME deliberately jumping ...okay. Me falling through unintentionally? Ack!)

(A cousin suggested I'd had a bad experience in a previous life when I was a cow. Ha!)

For heavens sake, don't look at my hips. ;;D
