Wow, that takes me right back to my childhood. Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton are about the only authors I even came close to trying to read. I was never a big reader though and would give up and play my atari.

39 cents at time of posting.

I recently found a paperback copy of the exorcist in better condition and with better cover art than my very scruffy copy. I also got a hardback with no dust jacket of The Bad Place by Dean Koontz. I still haven't read any Koontz books but have 7 on my shelf.
I've read 2 Koontz books: The Hiding Place, which totally terrified me. I think a movie was made of it, with Jeff Goldblum; and some book that was very much like The Mist - no where near as well written, but the same "gist" of event: Ummm, I have to google, it was: Argh, I still can't figure it out. Maybe The Taking. Anyway.

Listening to GNTLGNT talk about them, I'm tempted to start the Odd Thomas series. I'm going to look for them as I thrift. If it's meant to be, they'll come to me.

Odd Thomas is one of the ones I've got. I take it that's considered one of his better ones?

Here's my finds from a weekend trip to Seattle:

The two McMurtry's and the Cook are signed. I've heard that McMurtry doesn't do many signing tours- is this true? The Road is a 1st printing but the dj isn't in great condition so I'm switching it with another copy (later printing) that I bought a few months ago. Same with The Andromeda Strain- it had a gorgeous dj which I will switch with the one on my 1st printing as it's in not-too-great shape. The LOTR books I bought for a friend so she can give them to her hubby.

Today I got nobody true by James herbert - the synopsis sounds great: someone has an out of body experience and while he's away somebody murders his body. He has to find out who and catch them but he has no body, can't touch etc.

I also got a regular paperback of bag of bones because when I do get around to reading it it will be more comfortable to hold than my trade paperback (I think that's what I have).

Out of curiosity, which do you guys prefer to read or just to have?

:sure:
I used to say "one of each" but having just moved about 15 boxes of books, I might have to rethink that.
I'm in an odd predicament. I live with mom and her increasing dependence on me correlates with her passive aggressive (regressive) parenting. For example: she had too many bookshelves a few months back, so rather than giving me a bookshelf, she insisted that my son and I drag her bookshelf to the dumpster. Then, she donated her books our hiking preserve.
She has three bookcases, filled with timeless treasures dating back to nineteenth century, and today she tells me that she wants them willed to the preserve as well. Willed?!! She's not dying!
Payday arrived today:encouragement:, so I spoiled myself a little by using my partial store credit to purchase two first editions: Tabitha King's One on One and Revival. My predicament? Let me show you

What do I do with Twain, Plato, Shakespeare's Tragedies and the two first editions? Read them or put them in a safe?:confuse::okay:
