My Friend Dahmer (2017)

This is a biography of Jeffrey Dahmer's high school years. It's such a creepy movie to watch because you know what happens after these years. He's shown as a very withdrawn kid with some disturbing hobbies. I guess you could call this a making of a serial killer movie. The kid that plays Dahmer does a good job of playing the disturbed loner.

I read the wikipedia page on Dahmer after I saw this movie and if the wikipedia page about his early years is accurate, the movie is reasonably accurate. One of the disturbing things I found in the wikipedia page about him is how many times he was questioned or arrested for creepy things before he was eventually found out.

somehow, he kept talking himself out of trouble. They just kept letting him go.

Something that I just discovered about this movie is that it is based on a graphic novel written by one of the guys that Dahmer knew in high school. The guy is the kid in the movie that is constantly making drawings (of course).

Three titles:

On the flight back home: A Wrinkle In Time. It struck me as akin to The Neverending Story, in that it's a kids' movie that adults can enjoy, although it' been decades since I've seen the latter, and the kids tell me it had depressing/grim spots that I obviously don't remember. Anyway, the three goddesses (or whatever they are) were charming in their roles, the heroine was plucky and likable, and it moved along.

Also on the flight back home: The Titan or just Titan. Um. The premise was unbelievable, the plot ludicrous, the settings inconsistent, and the resolution unsatisfying. Despite all that, it was vaguely interesting enough to stick with until the aforesaid unsatisfying resolution. The main actress was strong and sympathetic. The effects were decent.

Back at home, Grandma and I watched Traitor, which we'd never heard of, from 2008. Don Cheadle. Cracking good spy/intrigue story with twists and turns that kept us on the edge of our seats. It was the jewel in this trio.

This an oldie from 1951 called Ace in the Hole with Kirk Douglas. It's a truly timeless story. A journalist (Kirk Douglas) is sent write about a man who fell down a collapsed mine. He plays it for all it's worth creating a media frenzy before there was social media. He leaves the guy as his Ace in the Hole to get as much attention as possible. Even refusing ways to get him out faster. Watch it, it's timeless.

I Know What You Did Last Summer and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Both movies were about a group of teenagers who were supposedly the cause of a man's death.
Though by the end of the first movie it is revealed to be a setup. It was actually Ben who killed David Egan.
It's ironic that Brandy was in the sequel, and 8 years later she killed someone in a car crash.

Ready Player One - I made it halfway through before switching off. Doubt I'll go back to finishing it. I'm happy for the maybe twelve people or so who liked this thing, but it wasn't my cup of Ovaltine.

The Happy Time Murders - the critics are full of it, as usual. This was nowhere near as bad as they made it out to be. If you watched the trailer and liked it, you will like this movie. Brian Henson doesn't have the refined sense of satire that his father did, but the former is a talented film-maker in his own right. The weakest element here, funny enough, is Melissa McCarthy. It's a raunchy crime/whodunit film with puppets treated as the downtrodden minority. I suspect Henson could have made a broader statement on the dying art of puppetry, but I suspect the material was watered down to favour McCarthy's - let's face it - not very broad range of comedy. Too bad this thing bombed at the box office, because I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel or two.

Hubby and I want to see this. We saw the preview before Deadpool 2 and about hurt ourselves laughing. Probably will have to wait for DVD but appreciate your mini review.

We re-watched Avengers: Infinity War. Watching it on the TV made it a bit easier to handle the ending. Still... Tom Holland hurt me.

I watched Hostiles on Netflix. It's one of the best movies I've watched in a long time. Beautiful, savage, poetic, visionary. My jaw came off its hinges the first two minutes of the film and I couldn't look away until two and a half hours later. It was better than 3:10 to Yuma, I think. With a haunting and understated soundtrack and panoramic scenes of the West that are like oil paintings, this is a movie not quickly forgotten. 5 out of 5 Remingtons.

Did you hear that Sesame Street sued them because they didn’t want the muppet style associated with a raunchy crime movie? It’s pretty funny considering how it’s directed by Jim Henson’s son, they’re suing the heir of their own creator.

I'm sure there was a movie like this before, which I once saw. But more low key, not with major stars. I just can't remember the title of the movie, and I don't mean Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles.
I can't remember on which channel I saw it either or how long ago precisely. But I'm pretty good at remembering things and finding them out, so sooner or later I will find out what it was.

What I recall about it, is that it was about two rivalling gangs (of puppets, I think).

Greg the Bunny was a sitcom on Fox for one season. Could it be that one?

Thanks. No, it was The Fuzz I'm pretty sure. Actually it says on the IMDb page for it, that there is a runtime of 107 minutes also of the entire series, so that's what I saw.

From what I recall it wasn't overly lewd, just a cop story with puppets. I remember it was sort of okay, not great.
