Soooo, back to Thanksgiving. Bought the turkey yesterday while there was still a decent selection of smaller ones available but completely forgot the celery and stuffing mix (yes, it's Stuffing! I'm from New England, descended from the Mayflower Pilgrims where it all started, so we're right. :p ) so will have to go back to the grocery store next week. Also will buy the pies then as it's too early--and too tempting--to have them in the house now. Will go to my mom's for the family dinner on Thanksgiving day but the past few years have also made a full Thanksgiving dinner for my partner and me as I love leftovers, not to mention not having to cook for a few days.

Not having to cook after these events is definitely the best thing about them.

Store bought pies for Thanksgiving????

Pilgrims, schmilgrims. Stuffing is made inside the bird. Filling is made in a glass casserole pan. So it is written so it shall be done. :)

I'm at the stage of life where I'm willing to work smarter, not harder and when I can buy a pumpkin and pecan pie that tastes just as good as homemade, I'm not going to martyr myself by adding those to the already long list of cooking to dos. :)

The only way there would be stuffing outside of the bird is if (and there usually is) there is too much to fit inside but it's still not ever filling, other than when it goes in your belly! :p

If this goes on much longer its gonna end with one of you as filling in the other ones

Thanksgiving is the time for cooking and baking misery. You New Englanders are strange. If I picked up store bought pies for Thanksgiving the family would stuff it up my... :)

And, au contraire! Time to educate ya’ll...

It’s Filling because it fills you - what could possibly be more appropriate... and is made in a casserole dish.
It’s Stuffing if you use the stuffing mixes, and stick up the butt of the bird.
As for Dressing... who’d want to do that to a turkey? :)
